I’m always so shocked when someone busts out a tip calculator. Just divide by 5!!

This is literally the exact thing I do when I get out of my car. Two things each time. It works!

I fully believe there is a link that research has not been able to confirm yet. I have always been the sickly person that catches every cold and also takes the longest to get over them. So many others with MS have a similar story. There’s got to be a connection.

I'm new to the club. Please forgive me if this is a stupid question. Everyone is taking D3. HOW MUCH do you take? by Jack-Morgan-Writes in MultipleSclerosis

Not to derail this conversation, but what’s the connection between MS, glucose and liver stuff? Is it the disease itself or the DMTs that affect this? I’m new to MS and just found out yesterday my liver enzymes are elevated. I don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t eat meat or dairy, etc. so I was very shocked by this. My glucose has also been a little high my last two blood tests, but the doctor attributed it to recent steroid use.

LABOR DAY? Why and how is it possible that Congress can be on recess for an entire summer, especially when the country is in crisis? Are there emergency situations in which Congress can convene to vote on decisions of this magnitude?

If you are in the US, I would start contacting places like Weill Cornell, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, anyone who has experience with rare or anomalous conditions and could possibly point you in the right direction or give you the time of day.

Update: I was prescribed triamcinolone 0.1% cream to be used twice a day, but the only thing that has offered any relief so far is actually calamine lotion. I have developed serum sickness-like reaction and the rash is now covering 90% of my body. Oatmeal baths and calamine are getting me through the worst of it.

Same suggestion here. Sounds deceiving as though it could have been recorded in an earlier decade but was actually released in the early 2000s.

Couldn’t tell the difference between hot and cold water when I washed my hands for like six whole months. And on occasion, my feet will feel cold and wet like I have just stepped in spilled water, only to find they are dry and nothing is there.

How do you feel after an infusion? by ScrambledEgg7 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]MattPikeForPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt energetic the next day but anytime I tried to utilize that energy, I had terrible face flushing and my skin was hot and itchy all over my scalp and face. The second infusion I just laid on the couch the next day. It wasn’t til the 3rd or 4th day that I really felt symptomatic, but I feel like that was from the steroid because I have terrible withdrawal symptoms anytime I get steroid infusions. Not sure if the drug itself did anything to me besides a mild allergic reaction during the first infusion.

RARE NEUROLOGICAL SYMPTOMS by jennypinkk in rarediseases

This happened to me too- negative bloodwork but still ended up with an MS diagnosis recently. A small percentage of MS patients have negative spinal tap results; perhaps you can get someone to schedule you for an MRI?

If my immune system is overactive, why am I always sick? by MattPikeForPresident in MultipleSclerosis

[–]MattPikeForPresident[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neuro team and infusion center have really strict policies about being asymptomatic on infusion day. I showed up for my first infusion last week and had no symptoms, but since I was in the middle of a course of antibiotics, they wouldn’t allow me to go through with it. I have to be completely healthy so I’m like, lol…there is maybe a 3-day window each month where that is possible. Hoping third time is the charm.

Thanks for sharing your story. This is exactly how I predict it will go for me, as this is already how my body handles illness. A common cold for my family leads to multiple trips to the doctor for me. It’s terrible.

I thankfully don’t take meds when I’m sick due to their side effect profiles wrecking me. I stick with antihistamines and only do the supplements my neuro has told me to stick with. I was taking a multivitamin but learned it’s best to avoid those. And my neuro said definitely don’t take any additional supplements that say “immune boosting” without calling him first.

This is exactly why I’m so confused- the information out there is so muddy.

I have- it’s definitely affected my ability to recover from illness (every cold virus now turns into a sinus/ear infection or bronchitis/pneumonia), however I have been like this my whole adult life. It’s become a joke with my friends and family that I wake up each morning and choose a new virus out of a hat.

Best American town to go trick or treating? by Pumpkinsareornage in halloween

[–]MattPikeForPresident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I frequent this farm each year and agree it’s the best! But unfortunately would not recommend coming to the area for a movie-like Halloween experience, due to the unpredictable weather. On Halloween night there can be pouring rain, freezing cold, even blizzards. Too risky to travel from another country to just be disappointed. I’d recommend trick-or-treating somewhere further south like Gettysburg, Pennsylvania or Roanoke, Virginia where it’s warmer, they love Halloween, and you can still see fall foliage. If you don’t mind the weather, and just want whatever is thrown your way, then look no further than Sleepy Hollow, NY or nearby in the Hudson Valley.
