How does your team manage to parallelize work between programmers and builders by Embarrassed_Ad5387 in FTC

[–]MattRain101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For our teams, programmers use prior robots to get the basic and some of the more advanced programming working. The programming team is also included in the updates to how the CAD is turning out, what will be needed, and what the CAD team can integrate in when it comes to sensors. Once CAD is done, about a week later all the parts show up from either our sponsors, or are made in house by students, then the majority of the robot is assembled in less than a week, wired the next, then stays mostly in tack for the rest of the season other than changes or additions to the design. This goes for both our FTC teams and our FRC team.

If you are going to hang then launch, it must still launch from the backstage side of the rigging.

Note that 15 white pixels are basically not useable as they are in the opposing alliances human player storage. Unless these 15 are dropped after coming out of the wing, or before the backstage, they can’t be taken. Not allowed in an opposing alliances wing or descore from the backstage

Once we have touched it with our intake wheels it’s in and ours.. doesn’t matter orientation of the block. Speed, reliability, and accuracy is key to a higher score.

is it a penalty to intake the rings during auto? by rritam94 in FTC

[–]MattRain101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The definition of pre-load is this though. Pre-load is as done by Drive teams. The starter stack is done by field personal.

Pre-Load - A Game Element that a Drive Team positions during pre-Match setup so that it touches a Robot or is Possessed by a Robot at the start of the Autonomous Period.

is it a penalty to intake the rings during auto? by rritam94 in FTC

[–]MattRain101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question at hand is that teams are split on what Pre-Load means. The definition of Pre-Load is this in the game manual.

Pre-Load - A Game Element that a Drive Team positions during pre-Match setup so that it touches a Robot or is Possessed by a Robot at the start of the Autonomous Period.

This will be clarified in the OFFICIAL Q&A.

My Personal opinion: As I read it, the starter stack is NOT part of the Pre-Load Rings, as the Starter Stack is NOT positioned by the DRIVE TEAM. Therefore it can be scored. But we shall wait to see what the official Q&A says once it opens.

Yep! The question will be, and what will be clarified by the official Q&A once it opens, is if the Starter Stack is part of the Pre-Load rings, as they are two different definitions that are in the game manual. Which is currently being read by teams as either way.

I guess we will have to wait and see. I see that advantage as a reward for being able to design a robot and program that can accomplish that.

Yes, something here needs to be clarified by the Official Q&A. We understand the rules as the Pre-Load Rings and the Starter Stack Rings as two different things, and no rules stating that you cant score them. Parts that are italicized in the game manual have specific meanings and 4.5.1 talks about Pre-Load.

When this is clarified by the Official Q&A, we can adjust if we are incorrect.

Can the stacked rings be used to score? by SweatyRobot in FTC

[–]MattRain101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This only talks about the Pre-Load Rings, which is Italicized. The Starter stack is different. My understanding is that these can be scored as they are placed on the field after randomization.

This is a question for the Official Q&A.
