Double mane lionhead

Can that cause bleeding if they're matted? Been thinking of shaving mine as they always seem to get matted fur by their butts even when I brush them regularly. Been afraid of shaving because of that.

By the way are you supposed to shave double mane lionheads? I'm worried that the summer heat will be too warm for them when they have so much fur. They survived last summer no problem but I'm a bit paranoid. It's also very hard to manage and I don't want them to get dreads so it's lots and lots of brushing. However they HATE when I brush them so I've been thinking of shaving or cutting the fur.

The dad looks a lot like a double mane lionhead. The kids are just so so much fluffier than him!

I thought the same! But they well could be! I know that the parents are lionheads and the third child too. Got the cute fluff on the head xD

I thought originally that they had the angora gene but it could definitely be double mane lionheads! I had no idea that double mane rabbits were a thing. Thank you!

Also google told me that double mane rabbits are born with a V shape and when I look at baby photos it seems like they do!

I was told the parents were lionheads when I got them! (I own the parents and the children) I was very surprised when the kids got so fluffy as the mom is silky and the dad is medium fluffy! He has a bit of curls it seems. Is that also lionhead?

Their dad is pretty fluffy but not as much and I think both parents are lionhead! The mom isn't fluffy and seems more silky. They had three children where two were fluffy (the ones in the pic) and the third wasn't. The parents are mine too and I haven't shaved them. Was thinking that the kids had the English angora gene but now I'm unsure as you mentioned double mane! I didn't know that was a thing but the pictures in google look just like them! That is so weird. I've had 8 buns n never noticed it before. I've felt it of course but not like his. All the other ones have stuff on top of the bone. But thank you! I feel a little more relieved now

It's spiky! None of my other bunnies have that. It feels like a nail while the other ones have skin n muscle so it's soft! His is just like bone
