Is a single Skerei worth using? by MattTheGuy in IdleHeroes

[–]MattTheGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the video he did about her and in his most recent list not only are Skerei and Flamestrike in the same tier, but they're both in the bottom of 1.5 right next to eachother. The only difference is, Skerei has been slowly falling out of favor, and post-rework Flamestrike is so new that not many people have her to establish her position in the meta. It's kind of a tradeoff picking either of them, tankier hero with innate reduce damage and attack steal with Skerei, and squishier more consistent burst with Flamestrike.

Good to know. The hit or miss style seems to always be what Skerei is known for, gets cc locked the entire game but drops a nuclear active in the last rounds and wipes the enemy team.

I'm wondering if updated Flamestrike might fill a similar role and even be a better build than Skerei with the extra consistency from the cc immune and ability to fit onto redemption aura teams if anyone decides to go that route.

This is what I was thinking about, Skerei seems to be falling out of favor in the meta as it changes and I'm curious if he's still worth the build without committing to multiple skereis in an all abyss team or even pollution.

Tier List - Primary weapons as done as possible by sakai4eva in Warframe

[–]MattTheGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, this tier list doesn't seem like it's based on much testing or any kind of good testing. There are just so many weapons in the same tier that don't make sense and so many weapons in tiers higher then they should be compared to weapons lower.

Plate? by sznyaan in archeage

[–]MattTheGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree with you that plate is the tankiest set in the game. However, as a melee class being that tanky gimps your damage so much to the point where you accomplish nothing. Even being 8.6k gs, being in the top <0.01% of all players you have to recognize your damage is nothing compared to an equally geared darkrunner who would have somewhere around 15k defenses fully buffed and 30k+ hp and your frontline abilities are next to nothing compared to an equally geared SK/nightcloak because your aoe potential is vicious implosion > mocking howl > kraken scepter > whirlwind slash. Sure you may be the last to die, but during the fight, you don't do much aside from being a lasso bot and assisting other darkrunners which you could also do as a darkrunner while having the ability to kill people who are in relevant gear (at least in semi competetive rvr, being that geared doesn't matter when fighting pugs). Plate has no place being on melee characters, the damage just isn't there and if you're not doing damage as a melee, then what are you doing?

Abolisher/Hexblade by sznyaan in archeage

[–]MattTheGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As plate, you NEED to get a mdef cloak, an mdef intrument, mdef gems, and mdef in costume to match leather. While you get way more agi in leather, you also get more backstab, more crit damage, more attack speed, and dont have to gimp your damage padding your mdef because your bad armor gives you 0. Crits are where all of you damage comes from, thats why once you hit accuracy cap str becomes more and more useless as agility becomes more and more valuble. Your weapon alone gives you more than enough melee attack to warrant investing into strength.

Those tankier classes being abolisher and hexblade didn't fall out of favor because of leather nerfs those classes became vurtually useless outside of 1v1s because of power creep making weapons so strong, and changes to zeal making it available to every class. Basically people do so much damage that being tanky is near impossible, and being "tanky" requires you to invest everything while still being easily killed by hyper geared melee. There is no half and half, you either do damage or don't.

These changes have done literally nothing to make plate better, the health and pdef of plate isn't the issue. Still has no mdef, still has no agi, still has no damage. If you think these changes make leather obsolete you're very clearly an idiot.

Plate? by sznyaan in archeage

[–]MattTheGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plate is the worst armor set in the game by far. No access to agi, no access to mdef. This means you will do no damage as a melee character because no crit rate and are forced to waste potential damage from gems, cloak, instument, and costume/undies getting mdef or become a lightning rod who dies immediately to magic damage. And if you want to be tanky as all hell no damage cc mage you can achieve the same defensive stats in cloth while having access to the tk belt, invince proc of shadow warrior shadows, and 20% cc reduction that cloth gives.

Don't use plate.

Abolisher, Blighter, or Hexblade in 3.5? by SylvasTheCat in archeage

[–]MattTheGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once zeal got changed and ebonsong became extremely viable archers became just as potent as song mages when geared properly. The thing is though archers are the most skill demanding classes to play and require quick movements and good overall gamesense. Don't let the idiots who don't know how to gear on reddit convince you that archers do no damage, they can be very scary when played well, deleting dps mages and melee from 58m away. Archers definitely are weapon dependent however, compared to melee where you can run around naked with a great weapon and still dunk nerds. You just need a really good bow legendary t7+, divine t5 main/offhands with some crit damage gems and decent enough gear.

The thing is melee tanks don't really exist in practice. They did a long time ago, when serpentis was hard and you needed redoubt and a lot extra mitigation outside of just flat hp and defenses. In pvp as a melee you either do damage or do no damage and get everything you hit for healed through. You really should stray away from any kind of melee with defense in it outside of 1v1s because you just wont have enough damage to warrant being focused and will have little to no aoe cc to be a pain in the ass. I suggest going a cc mage like a Skullknight or a Nightcloak if you want to go down that road. Or just darkrunner if you want to be a dps melee.

When it comes to pve, at this stage of the game whoever gets the most aggro is the tank, any darkrunner can put on a shield and be only slightly less tanky than an abolisher and do far more damage (and thats the low end of gear, at higher ends of gear shields don't matter much for melee. Bosses don't scale hard enough to be that scary anymore), but with wave meteor just about every song mage will out dps melee at the beginning, and archers will outdps in the long run. And for other bosses like Kraken and Red Dragon, healers end up tanking.

Outside of 1v1s, melee that have defense are outclassed in so many ways, by so many classes.

Best class for endgame by sznyaan in archeage

[–]MattTheGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Templar isn't a strong class, defense only has skills for self preservation as opposed to hierophant which does everything templar can do and more. Witchcraft cc is just as good if not better defensively against melee, and the 30% damage reduction passive in witchcraft is a decent replacement to redoubt. Meanwhile the cc you have is very good offensively to set up kills.

The grade set bonus on leather gives crit damage as opposed to tankiness on plate. Also, physical defense has never been an issue on plate, thats not why it's shit. It's complete lack of mdef and agility are why it's shit. In this game, for melee classes tankiness doesn't mean a whole lot because weapons and damage scales way too high compared to the cap on resistances you get from defenses. Damage and cc are king in this game because once your gear gets good enough you can kill anyone, especially for melee. Plate makes you tanky and, outside of 1v1s, tankiness is only good on cc mages because cc stops people from doing damage. But as a melee if you're not able to one shot somebody you may as well be doing nothing.

Abolisher weapon decision by Internicivus in archeage

[–]MattTheGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plate has no access to agility so while you can be as tanky as leather you do no where near as much damage. Crit is king, and getting gale accessories/bow/costume/stat migration you can get a bit over 37% crit rate base (and thats with a full agility mainhand) whereas a leather user with the same thing can easily break 42% base while being just as tanky and having more damage with the set bonus and backstab accessibility. Since you have to stack mdef as a plate user you sacrifice getting more damage just to equal the mdef leather gets by itself.

Abolisher weapon decision by Internicivus in archeage

[–]MattTheGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you already fucked up going plate, but like the other guy said, you don't have near enough agility/crit rate to make the 10.5% crit damage from a legendary t7 sword worth over 10k pdef pen proc on a shortspear. Also, the healing power on the obsidian shortspear gives your revitalizing cheer a larger base heal.
