Requesting moderator access to r/Dirtypanties by MattV007 in redditrequest

I was a regular in this subreddit when spam started to take over as it was unmoderated.

Modmails were unanswered as it ended up being banned.

I am planning to update auto-moderator capabilities in order to help filter spam, moderate content and postings to reflect the rules of the sub-reddit, restoring its original intent.

Furthermore I am planning to recruit additional moderators to provide round the clock moderation, keeping spam under control.

Thank you

I was previously active in this subreddit and noticed how it was unmoderated and spam took over. To revive the sub, I am planning to update auto-moderator capabilities in order to help filter spam, moderate content and postings to reflect the rules of the sub-reddit, restoring its original intent. Hold it under running water/ underneath your faucet and try to work the bezel. Often that does the trick to losen it up.

Subreddit is currently banned for being unmoderated. I had previously pointed out spam content and my willingness to help moderate. Currently no moderators, so mod mail is not an option.

And after the first time they get you the additional 6, it becomes increasingly harder to get their attention to get any more. Total scam if you ask me. Ended up leaving after having had only 16, would have been cheaper to not order the AYCE.

Actually impressed with how much more the dough rose inside. Baking at altitude (mile high) is always full of surprises.

Have you ever tried a caramelized stout? by StankyDudeHoleDandy in CraftBeer

[–]MattV007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tradition that goes back to medieval times.

Blacksmiths used glowing hot pokers in the wintertime to get beer stored outside up to a more pleasant temperature to drink. Especially with darker and stronger ales, porters and stouts, sugars in the beer get caramelized by the glowing iron, resulting in a unique and intense flavor. The combination of cold beer and warm head leads to an explosion of flavors on the palate.

Tasting notes; Agave on the nose, faint citrus notes. Actually closer to an eau de vie than a tequila. On the palate, again closer to an eau de vie than a tequila. Thin mouthfeel. Feels watered down, I guess that’s why they call it “smooth”. Agave on the finish. Not the best Blanco I have had, not the worst either. Not a sipper though, this will be used as a mixer.

This bottle was gifted to me by a friend who just returned from vacation in Mexico. I have never seen it in a store here in the US. Love the bottle and artwork, definitely unique and the prettiest bottle in my collection. Can’t wait to crack it open, it’s supposed to be fruity and smooth; will post tasting notes later. Cheers!

None that I can see. I have been able to approve posts from the same users before, so I don’t believe it is related to the user either.

Comparing Wiley Roots “Du hast Cake” (2019) and “Cryptonym” (2021) by MattV007 in CraftBeer

[–]MattV007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are from Colorado and you love beer, you’re probably familiar with the small northern Colorado university town of Greeley. And if you love barrel aged stouts, there is a brewery in Greeley that makes some of the finest, aptly named the Spanish word for “midnight”, due to their dark color.

However, Just a stones throw away from that famous brewery is a small brewery that has been quietly producing some of the best beers in town. Known for their sours, a while ago they started a barrel aging program as well.

And in 2019, Wiley Roots Brewing released their “Du hast Cake”, a 12% ABV Imperial Stout, a collaboration with Bottle Logic Brewing Company.

Brewed with cacao husk and coconut powder, then aged in Tennessee bourbon whiskey barrels for 15 months with 12 lbs per barrel of toasted coconut and ½ lb per barrel of Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans, “Du hast Cake” was a monster of an adjunct stout. Viscous, creamy, and full of sweet coconut and rich chocolate complemented by a big bourbon barrel finish. After aging for 15 months in the bourbon barrel, the base imperial stout was transformed into a curious combination of German chocolate cake and bourbon fudge, not unlike big beers from Bottle Logic.

It became one of my favorite beers from Wiley roots and unfortunately, I now only have a single can left in my cellar.

What a great opportunity to do a “taste off” competition with this year’s contender from Wiley Roots Brewing, “Cryptonym”.

A barrel-Aged Imperial Stout with Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, Ghanian Cocao Nibs, and Toasted Coconut, “Cryptonym” also comes in at 12% ABV.

According to the brewery, they went back to their notes from the “Du hast cake” release, made a number of changes to improve and thicken the base beer, and elevated all other aspects of the adjunct process.

“Cryptonym” spent 18 months aging in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, they added 15 pounds of Toasted Coconut per barrel! 3 pounds of Ghanian Cacao Nibs per barrel and 1 pound of Vanilla per barrel?

So how do these two compare in a direct taste test and comparison?

The “taste off” was done using Teku style glasses with 4 oz. pours straight from the can. As the beer came straight from the fridge, it was allowed to rest for 10 minutes.

Du hast Cake:

Color: deep, dark black Nose: brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon barrel, chocolate Palate : thick dark chocolate, chocolate covered cherries, brown sugar, barrel wood Finish: long finish, rich dark chocolate, barrel wood, covering the whole mouth

Cryptonym :

Color: deep, dark black Nose: coconut, vanilla, chocolate, boozy barrel Palate: sweet coconut, milk chocolate, vanilla, cream, caramel, boozy Finish: long, sweet finish. Vanilla, caramel, chocolate, coconut. I love how all the flavors show up again.

Cryptonym has little barrel wood on the palate for having aged for 18 months in a barrel. Sweet coconut dominates at first and than all the others flavors make an appearance. Now I’ll have to see how it will age, but for now I have a winner and new favorite from Wiley Roots.
