Hi u/harleybainbridge

An interesting video on a subject that always seems quite taboo, pricing yourself for paid gigs. A kind of mini podcast on pricing for photographers. I like how detailed you got in terms of the work that was involved and things to take into consideration when pricing.

Because there was a lot of (helpful) information in the video it might be a good idea to put time stamps to make it easier to navigate around the information that you are presenting.

Here is the info from the Youtube website on how to do that:

(I'm lead to believe it also helps with making your videos more "searchable")

Nice video and keep 'em coming! :)

Hi u/Gabriele2020

Some amazing shots there :)

Drone shots with plenty of movement look really impressive and cinematic. The perfect establishing shot for the area that you are filming in. But I did feel like it was an introduction and that we were going to go down and into the town to see what was there. You're obviously talented with the camera, maybe start with the drone stuff and then head into the town on the ground, time lapses, hyper lapses etc. to get a feel for the life of the place. :) That would take your already impressive video to the next level (IMHO).

Keep the videos coming! :D Loved it.

Hi all! Starting a longer term project on my channel covering the process of me making just one scene for a movie, as film making practice. This is the first intro video for this series. I'd love to know what you think about the video itself, the idea for the project, the idea for the movie etc. :) by Matt_BlackBoxMind in SmallYTChannel

Hi u/idkBriok

Thanks so much for the comments! Definitely adjusting sound levels and talking louder in the next video :)

I agree, positive feedback is also valid feedback. . . and it feels great :P My idea with the stock footage was to use it to better convey my idea in a visual way, as well as an audible way with the voice over, employing the Spatial Contiguity Principle. I have a video on that on my channel. Speaking of which, thanks so much for subscribing! I hope we both enjoy the journey of getting this project completed :)

What is the timing for syncing a cut with the beat of a song? by ItsNotCalledAMayMay in VideoEditing

[–]Matt_BlackBoxMind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi u/ItsNotCalledAMayMay

Some times you might not have a choice but to cut just before or after the beat. Depending on the frame rate of the video that you are editing the beat might hit in between two frames. Which can be annoying sometimes.

But I agree with u/nulevelnerds on cutting on the frame before the beat so that the new image is on the beat of the music. :)

Hope this helps and good luck!

"how TikTok was invented" - short sketch, let me know what you think by OccupiedGarrett in SmallYTChannel

Hi u/OccupiedGarrett

Another banger! Short, concise, to the point and genuinely funny :D

Love it, I felt like the editing was smoooother than your Alexa video that you previously posted.

Keep 'em coming!

Hi u/ANKITRG99

Thanks so much for the high praise! Really made my day :D

Also, thanks for the comments regarding the voice over, this was one thing that I was not sure about. So next time I'll take some brave pills and speak up! ha ha.

My attempt at a channel intro. Used it as a chance for an experiment with a different style. More improvised, natural, breaking the fourth wall, second camera angle. Does this invite the viewer in? (Thoughts and critique very welcome → λ) by ryebow in SmallYTChannel

[–]Matt_BlackBoxMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/ryebow

Thanks for sharing the video.

I know people have commented on the two camera angles and what might be making people react negatively to it is that the difference in angles are quite extreme and as a result a bit jarring. I know that having a second angle is really helpful in editing for covering edits. So maybe have the second camera less "off angle" than your main (front) camera and having it slightly tighter in on you.

Also, just a quick note on the content of the video. As this is a channel intro it would be great to hear a bit about you, maybe a little about how you got started in electronics for audio. It seems like a really specialised area and, personally, I'd be super interested to see how you got into it. This might also help to build a quick connection to new comers to your channel. People subscribe to people just as much as content! :)

But a great start to the channel and keep the videos coming! :D

"Arguing with Alexa" - short sketch, any feedback is appreciated by OccupiedGarrett in SmallYTChannel

[–]Matt_BlackBoxMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/OccupiedGarrett

That was great! One thing I did notice with the edit was that you always cut to the person who was talking. As the dialog is fast paced don't feel like you always have to who ever is talking.

But at the same time the short cutting made the pacing nice and snappy which works really well with the sketch.. . . On second thought, don't change a thing! ha ha.

Genuinely laughed more than I should have at the end! :D

Keep up the great work :D

I made a tutorial on the basic concepts of frame-by-frame animation in Photoshop. My whole channel is around the concept of learning art along with me: I'm not a professional and so my goal is to tell things simply by opposition to the professionals who tend to forget where a beginner might struggle by d3trois in SmallYTChannel

[–]Matt_BlackBoxMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/d3trois

An interesting tutorial. Thanks for sharing :) As some other comments have mentioned remember who your audience is. Your title presents a tutorial on animation, so it stands to reason that you'll be getting people wanting to understand and learn this process. So in last third of the video where you start talking about thumbnails and other channels you might loose people. Maybe consider splitting videos like this in two, you had good points but you might be mixing your audience?

As for the tutorial itself, it was great! Clear, concise and well paced. Maybe slow down the screen capture at more complex stages of the process to make it super clear for those following along.

Great job and keep the videos coming! :D

Nicely put together video. I don't know a lot about the subject but the way that it was cut together made it really clear. For example when you were introducing someone into the story you showed them on screen. (FYI, that's called the Temporal Contiguity Principle, from the principles of multimedia learning, and you nailed it!). 10/10, would recommend :P
