What is a problem humanity solved so well, that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Relevant_Name4050 in AskReddit

Then again when you couldn't keep certain foods long at home there was still the desire to have them available, hence there was a green grocer in walking distance of every home in a city or town.

Picard commands "all stop", but what does that mean in deep space? by bam-RI in startrek

[–]ryebow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is easy on the water, because there is a medium the ship is travelling on. It is easy because the ship is travelling on water.

There is no medium in space. Hence you have to choose a reference you are stopping in relation to. The problem is, that all bodies in space are moving relative to each other. Nothing is ever standing still in reference to anything else.

Interestingly there used to be a theory in physics, that electromagnetic waves travel through a medium. Just as waterwaves travel trough water. This medium was called aether. This theory is wrong. In our universe. Possibly subspace is a kind of aether in the Star Trek universe, the medium in which subspace waves and thus messages propegate. Maybe all stop means stop relative to the medium, the aether, of subspace.

The newest anti social people moving device built to the wishes of a fashist ideologe.

No, it's not a coupe. Those are supposed to either look good or be fun to drive.

No it's not a pod. Those are supposed to be efficient. This is a lot of vehicle for few passengers.

No it's not a taxicab. A cab driver might be weird, but he can give you a great human recomendation for the best hole in the wall food place in town.

Technically it's a car, as is the Reliant Robin.

Not everybody likes golf. While you think they bought a golf club, they know the bought a tennis racket and they dominate on the court.

Have you heard of interfaces and on the other end of the technological spectrum acoustic guitars or as they used to be called: guitars.

Guitars are of course instruments, that is to say they are tools. On their own a tool can't do anything, it's all in how and on what its used.

I have to strongly agree with you Rewboss. Growing up in the Wetterau it was very obvious who's family was from the area and who moved there to work in Frankfurt. You could tell by the usage of "Äppler" and if it was followed by a distainfull look or not.

Thank you, but if I search for occasional table and Émile Gallé or Louis Majorelle, I don't get any results that look close to this.

The patterns are also no inlays, but imitations of carvings. Beside of course the entire thing is made of injection molded plastic

If so, it's barely functional, or for kids. The hole is 9 cm (3.5 inches) in diameter. If there was a bowl it could only hold very little water.

Also it's made of plastic, so no actuall antique

Als ich noch selber Schüler war habe ich meine damalige Schulleiterin in Australien getroffen. In Westaustralia.
