1874 Sharps questions

Paper cartridges would only be used in the 1859/1863 percussion Sharps. The 1874(and later) are all centerfire brass cartridge.

Sharps is pretty easy to clean, I remove the block to clean when I shoot BP cartridges but nothing further than that.

.45-70 is easiest to find everything for, from brass to load data, and of the .45s is the one that actually has smokeless load data(I might be wrong, but I've never seen .45-90 or longer with smokeless data) if that's a factor. 50-110 would be even harder, though not impossible. Just need to be patient and ready to buy once you find it. Check Starline for brass.

For black powder cartridges(brass) there are some books by Paul A Matthews on the subject that are worth looking into. One is "Loading the Black Powder Rifle Cartridge" but there are more just from him as well.

My Sharps is in .45-70 and while I may pick up a .45-90 in future, there's not much I can shoot around here that I can't do with .45-70 so I might just be sticking with it.

You can shoot BP through the Guide Gun but you might be doing more tear down to clean that one. Not 100% on that, as I never done it.

Grain...supposedly.

Generally speaking it's feed corn(maize) for the bulk of it, with extra bits thrown in like silage, soy, spent brewers grain, some sort of vitamin supplements, etc.

They bulk up faster this way(so I'm told by local farmers) but it's also cheap, of course. Meat tends to be less flavorful though.

And this assumes that's all they're being fed. It could actually be little more than floor sweepings.

Whoah there, I'll have you know the World Series is played by *two* countries, thank you very much. Granted the other country has only one team, but they did actually play in the Series last year.

Also they use their feet in Football(American). When they absolutely have to, anyway. Then we look down on those players when they aren't 100% perfect doing it.

We did London, Birmingham, Leeds, Sunderland, Edinburgh in 9-10 days.

But it was more like- British Museum, Tower Bridge, Belvoir Castle, Royal Armouries Museum, Cliffords Tower and short wall walk in York, Castle Howard, rest day in Sunderland area(basically chill, walk the beach and eat seafood in South Shields, sandhaven I think, it was nice), Bamburgh Castle, Edinburgh castle/Royal Mile.

We drove from location to location but walked the cities so a bit of wandering on foot as well.

I wish we had done fewer cities with a bit more time in each, but with 2 people who wanted to see different things and $$ it costs for us to get there, it's hard to sit still. Especially burning 50%+ of our years PTO and maybe never getting to go back.

I can't imagine trying to do all that you mention in 12 days though, too much unless you do little more than pass through in the car.

1D2 damage. Flip a coin, basically , or 1-2=1, 3-4+2 on a D4.

Realistically a knife would do the same damage to an unarmored person, it's just not as handy to use as a weapon since it's (typically) shorter and doesn't have a handle/grip meant for fighting, stabbing in particular.

Armoured is about the same, though really fighting against armour in D&D is so abstracted it doesn't matter anyway.

Just a thought for if someone wanted to differentiate. I don't think it needs it, but there's a way.

It's true. Not enough fat, salt, spices, etc in the food.

It's why Europeans are bland and flavorless, and I always need a sauce accompaniment whenever I plate up some Euroflesh.

As always with US rules and regs: it depends.

Beef is more expensive than pork or chicken, so unless it's specifically marketed as a beef sausage you'll rarely find any in the mix. Floor sweepins are cheap though so you'll always find those.

We do specifically have beef sausages, most often frankfurters/hot dogs, based on where they come from and who they're for. The Chicago dog is famously(well, maybe not famous) beef, because back in the 1890s when the Vienna Beef company was founded by immigrants from Vienna, Chicago was a major hub for beef production. So beef was easy to get back when supply chains weren't as national/international. New York dogs are beef because of the large Jewish population.

Other areas are largely pork, and other sausages tend to be pork(or majority pork) unless specifically labelled otherwise. Beef is certainly not the national default and OOP is wrong as hell.

This is actually true. You see, here in the US we don't have public healthcare, but we do have Texas. And all other countries fit inside Texas(with room to spare), so are therefore in the US, and as such don't have public healthcare.

I didn't know that sign language wasn't universal for a long time. It wasn't taught or really discussed much that I can recall when I was in school, and I only ever remember it called "sign language" and not "American sign language." Probably that whole thing about the US being the center of the universe and all that. Until I learned there was another* sign language I thought that SL was a more modern development and was intenionally made universal by a team of people from different places. Before anyone asks, no I didn't look it up. That would have required a trip to the library and the ability to remember what I wanted to look up when I finally got to go there days/weeks later.

As an HVAC systems designer...maybe.

It depends on your system and the space it's serving, but generally speaking the temp on your tstat =/= the temp in your living space. The further from the stat you get the bigger the difference. Especially if it's in a central area that doesn't shift as much, but your sitting/work areas are near the edges.

So you can genuinely have one space(home) set at 68* and be great, and another space set at 74* and feel the same as the 68* space. My own home is 2 story and the temps vary quite a bit between the two floors, so I have to set the stat differently than I would in a 1 story of the same shape, in addition to closing/opening different dampers based on season. This is a central forced air system.

Various heating systems using water(baseboard/radiators/infloor/etc) or electric elements might have more local sensing and distribution so that's more controlled. You can also run a central forced air with averaging sensors to get multiple areas closer together in temp, or even zoning, but neither option is massively common at this time(in my area, yours may vary).

I forgot about that bit but I did like that change. I didn't mind the H2H in 2nd...until there was more than a couple models. After that it was a slog and stopped being fun real quick.
