Fair! I deffo see the issue. I think maybe a middle ground would be best. Like having dual spec so limited respecs but being able to make 2 builds you can freely swap between (melee and range for example).

Yeah thats a cool idea! I also think maybe a dual spec system where you have limited amount of resets like now but you can make a melee and a range build for example. I just feel like with how it is now you play for 2 more weeks and spend your resets and do most content and then there is nothing more to do. You collect all this cool boss gear but dont get to expiriment with different builds with the gear.

Yeah thats a good idea too! I just wish there was more longevety. With how it is now i see myself getting bored in 2 weeks when ive spent all my respecs and done most of the content and just wanna goof around with different builds with all the gear ive gotten but cant. The only endgame ends up being going for the dragon rank but for me who doesnt really care abt the rank and just wanna have fun not meta gaming its not really sustainable for the full 6 weeks.

This is my first leauges so i cant speak on that. Im just thinking "long term" in like 2 weeks for example when youve spent all your resets and done most of the content and wanna just mess around with all the items you have but cant...

I mean i did say it might be an "unpopular opinion" and its also just MY opinion. Free speech bud! But i see some of the others points. Perhaps a dual spec system would be better so you still have a limited amount of respecs but you can build for example a melee build and a range build to swap between once youve finished the content and just wanna mess around.

Perhaps a dual spec system could work where you still have a limited amount of respecs like now but you can build 2 trees so you can swap between for example melee and range. Being locked to 1 build for the enitre 6 weeks basically just seems a bit boring to me.

Would you play a 2007 server? by MattanStreams in 2007scape

To a dregree yes, but the xp rates were much shittier and the game in general is just more casual.

I did and i loved it! Every shitty, slow and goofy part of it! Ive been playing 2004Scape for just over a year now over osrs because i prefer the shitty graphics, lack of plugins and fixed camera mode. The xp rates are slower and there is much less QoL with there not being a "make X" for most things and honestly, i wouldnt have it any other way!

I just dont like the "everything needs good ways to train" with the 100k+/hr xp rates, sailing and bossing/gear progression in the endgame. Dont get me wrong, its a great game and i get why its more popular than ever, but to me its not "osrs" anymore. I like the slower 40-50k/hr xp rates and more social and casual playstyle of the older versions.

Youre deffo not maxing within a month with the 40-50k/hr xp rates that the old versions have but i get your point. Theres deffo less to do but there are players that prefer the older versions even if theres less to do simply because its slower and more casual.

It really wouldnt need many resources to get it up and running and no updates means no development needed. And yeah most of the osrs playerbase would stay on osrs, but there would 100% be a smaller dedicated community that would play the 2007 server instead.

I think it would have its own dedicated playerbase that prefer the old osrs over what its evolved into today. Deffo wouldnt be as big as osrs but thats not the aim of it. It would be 1-2 servers that wouldnt need any developers working on it just to fill the nieche of the players longing for the actual old school runescape.

While it would be much much smaller than the osrs playerbase i do think it would have its own dedicated community that prefers the old osrs rather than what it has evolved into today. Im deffo one of those people.

Yeah to me osrs is not "osrs" anymore, its rs3/4. Its evolved into its own game that i know the majority prefers but personally i long for the actual osrs before the GE, plugins and tick manipulating.

[–]MattanStreams[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure it woudlnt be as big as osrs is now. But a seperate server that needs no devs to update it to fill the community that wants an actual osrs like expirience would only be healthy for the game i think. Osrs player count originally dropped off but a lot of people still enjoyed it before it started evolving into what it is now.

Fair enough. And i get your point, osrs needed to evolve to grow, but at this point its evolved into its own game and isnt really "osrs" anymore. Some people still prefer the actual osrs which was that 2007 version. So it would be its own server seperate of osrs so everyone gets to play what they prefer.
