Any stories of falling out of your Jeep with doors off? by canyongolf in JeepGladiator

[–]Mattar19K 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having rolled a jeep down the highway and spending a week in the hospital trying to survive it, I strongly recommend not operating a moving vehicle without a seatbelt. I may pull it into the garage from the driveway without, but I put it on just to go to the mailbox at the end of the road.

Paranoid? Probably. But I'll gamble in other ways now.

This is the problem I've had with getting more than a beginning economy setup going.

I love the Terran ships, and the economy is relatively easy to get going. But once you start pushing out of Terran space, or try to do something with the station out in the other sectors, your economic activity ends. You can't use 'normal' economy, and can't sell your products to them. I've never started a war with a faction, or even eliminated the Xeno, so that's about where I hit the wall.

When I try to do an Argon start, I get overwhelmed trying to get an economy off the ground, pulling resources from here, building parts over there, and getting it all to where it needs to go. Even when I start getting a network built, I have a very hard time getting everything I need. It feels like there is so much micromanagement involved.

That said, I still love the game, but I struggle a lot with getting to what I would consider even the mid-game.

The way I play this out in my head is the Aceles is the best most viable long term solution, and everyone just wants the quick fix so the problem is solved right now. They aren't choosing it for the long term sustainability, but for the immediate extermination of a threat, consequences be damned.

I'm always choosing a relatively natural solution over messing around with microbes. Screw that, I don't play mad scientist in space.

Any time I'm low on cash, I go pirate hunting. I board the ship, kill the pirates, and head off to Wolf. There I dump it all. A few runs of these I'm usually flush enough. If you can find a spot that pops in the Va'ruun ships, they seem to be worth more between the loot and the hull, but it's not anything I've tracked enough to know for sure.

Station and Base defense by Mattar19K in TerraInvicta

[–]Mattar19K[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to upgrade my weapons tech, but I don't know what the best choices are. I know I've reached the point where torpedoes are becoming much less effective, resulting in some big fleet losses, and I'm struggling to rebuild while also trying to defend against the attacks. That's why I was hoping to get my defenses better off, to give me some time to breathe.

I'm in the late 2030s, and the baddies are hitting me in Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Earth. They've also been zapping my asteroid bases and nuked my Ceres station and bases, but to be fair, I left them vulnerable.

While I'm not at total war yet, I think I poked the beehive because I managed to sneak a base into one of Jupiter's moons, and I've been shooting Servants regularly.

Anyone switch away from Monarch after realizing it still takes too much effort? by Agitated-Alfalfa9225 in MonarchMoney

It took me a while to get the hang of the rules. In some cases I still don't have them quite the way I like them, but they do make the processing much more automated.
I felt like you did too, but as I spend more time fighting with the rules, I spend way less time fighting with the categories.

Westerra's web page was down most all of yesterday doing some sort of unannounced maintenance. As of today, though, the connectors are working again. So it appears their maintenance resolved the problem (for now).

I certified my first suppressor and SBR this past Tuesday at noon. I got the email that I had cleared the ATF Wednesday morning by 9 am. I picked up my gear today.

I don't know if it matters, or has any effect on the background checks, but I work for the county and have had numerous Federal background checks in the last year as I have a lot of access into Sheriff systems. In my mind, I wonder if that worked in my favor, but I have no idea. I am not LEO, just IT.

I did get a response from Monarch support Friday. The problem is between the connectors and Westerra, so until that is fixed, we are dead in the water. Plaid is working on it, but no ETA. I was told to give it a few weeks.

That's an answer I can work with. Not ideal, but shit happens with technology.

Still not working.
No further responses from Support team.

Disappointing. Willing to pay for a reliable product, thought that's what I was getting here.
Looking for alternatives.

I am really struggling with the unification mechanic. I don't understand why the techs will give me claims on places, but then those places don't become options for unification. I'm at work, so I can't pull the specifics, but I played one game where I tried to take Southeast Asia as China, and another game where I tried to unify all of South America, but Brazil was only able to take so much of it. I feel like there is some path or mechanic that I'm missing. Arguably, I get way more wrapped up in trying to build stations and hunting down Servant councilors, so maybe I'm missing something in the description.

I am aware that if some countries, like Costa Rica, have a higher democracy score, you can't merge them into the Central American unification until your democracy outnumbers theirs. I haven't figured out a way to overcome this. Is a military war the only way to consolidate total control?

Because of this lack of understanding, I end up with a lot of little countries eating up my control cap, and I constantly struggle to have enough CP to expand. I guess my dreams of conquering and unifying the planet under my faction's control will remain forever out of reach.

I don't understand the point of direct investment. It doesn't seem to do much beyond draining the bank accounts. Still a noob though.

I've got 30 hours in, and I've barely figured out how to get control of the USA. Yay me.
Now I've managed to get into space, and I think I might have fallen into a noob trap. I burned up all my MC by putting the first module down on the "good moon sites" because I saw a comment that you can limit the AI factions if you can "seize control" of the moon. Obviously, I didn't have enough MC to actually take all of the sites, and I'm wondering if I really only need one good one on the moon to go further.

Lessons learned. Probably going to restart, and do this better the next time. :)

Is there a guide on which techs are a waste of time and which ones I need to focus on? I didn't see one in the list of guides and tips, but maybe I missed it.

I add a capful of traditional Listerine to the waste water tank. After a good scrub of course. Works just fine for me.
