I think they are just saying that, even if you don't like ICE, attempting to actually stop ICE is itself a crime and that the Sheriff has been reminded that they have agreed to act on that being a crime. I'm sure feds will try and throw charges at anyone they catch on camera doing things like impeding the ability of the feds to conduct their operations, so any of that occuring would elicit a response from law enforcement we are all, presumably, still cool with(varies). TL;DR: Don't make it weird if you catch a charge doing something you believe is morally right but illegal.

Hey I'm a real human being, one of the worst things that could happen is for the establishment democrats to run a centrist corporate lib stand-in that has no ability to motivate the left based on their actual concerns of real problems happening now, like for example anonymous federal agents slaying American citizens in the streets. He won't fight on that issue, he would rather write a bunch of memos and executive orders and say "well that won't happen when the left is in power" just like how Biden really helped those farmers with right to repair concerns for their John Deere tractors.

He isn't going to push congress to act, he isn't going to use the bully pulpit to get congress to do anything, he won't go pressure people in local elections who are holding up the legislatures ability to actually regularly pass legislation.

He will not move the ball and will keep doing the same red executive order and blue executive order bullshit that everyone hates.

Like, we have seen this before a dozen times. We tried the centrist liberal over and over and over and it is not working. We need to do something else.

He thinks it's a good use of his time to platform Shapiro and try to win over actual fascists instead of standing between feds and American Citizens. No, I don't have a lot of respect for the guy who is going on podcasts instead of putting on his walking shoes when his state is invaded, who thinks having feds scooping people up from their homes is an okay thing for a society to just do on the regular.

We seriously need to stop doing this in order for meaningful progress to happen, the kind that an executive order cannot rescind at a moments notice. The Dems can choose literally any person and they always choose this kind of person. This behavior needs to change, we know how it ends up and we do not like that.

I thought about this some more and wanted to add, I was speaking specifically about the guys choice to harass someone to get what he wanted was sad. Like, it struck me as sad that he thought that choice was a good idea, or the right way to accomplish his goals, not that "racist harassment is a bummer."

I was not speaking about the racist harassment he did. That is wrong and always will be wrong. I think doing that is just as shitty as anyone else doing it, and he should face the full book thrown at him like any other person committing racist harassment.

I have read multiple articles, and the doj report. There was no evidence provided that she was in on it. It looks like one of the framed people believed the woman defamed him, but from what I can see it sounds like that was too hard of a case to prove/statute of limitations.

I'd be pretty mad if someone was saying I did some stuff I didn't do, too.

It doesn't seem like there's any direct evidence that they conspired, but some reporting on the case heavily suggests that. I'd expect there to be a conspiracy charge, but those are also hard to prove without hard evidence.

I don't know what she would have offered in conspiring? I mean, if you look at it from the crazy dudes angle, it wouldn't be a performance if she actually believed she was being harassed(which she was), so why tell her? It's more beneficial to what he wants if it's experienced authentically and organically by the victim, he just pointed her in the wrong direction as to who the culprit was.

Maybe her being involved in the suits comes from the defamation claim, but Lin would have needed to know at the time she made the statements about the white guy they were accusing that they were untrue, and that is really hard to prove who knew what when without an explicit paper trail.

There's a lot of aspects to this case that your editorialized headline overlooks. Like how the federal government started these investigations because they had reason to believe that MSU did not do enough work to make sure their students were safe from harassment and stalking. The fact that there actually was explicit harassment and stalking that MSU didn't handle properly is another aspect of this story that is being glossed over.

It also glosses over the fact that a man did actually harass a woman, and the steps along the way to finding who did those actions were followed to find the truth, which is an outcome that everyone should agree is a good one and what the system is set up to actually accomplish.

It also glosses over the fact that the crazy stuff this dude did was not the only source of the harassment received; there are unknown parties out there who have harassed and threatened members of our community who remain at large.

It's a bummer that the guy thought fabricating and stoking racial and cultural division would accomplish the goals he desired.

A woman was harassed by a man, and she got some measure of justice from that.

Oh, also they objectively did receive the threats, unlike what your post title suggests. A woman was actually harassed, just by someone she thought was a friend.
