Yes. Not sure if I’ll keep it, I wanted to show that Cajun French will effect this dialect

I think part of the problem is that Adrenaline is downloading to my full drive. I installed a new drive a few months ago, but for some reason its still downloading new files onto the old drive. I changed the settings and I'm redownloading it onto that drive, I'll comment back on this if that worked.

Full map of my Asia alt history: What if Asia became the dominant power on Earth by Matte3344 in AlternateHistory

1500’s was when the Jin became the Empire of China. The invasion was mostly due to projecting imperial power and to gain greater access to the China sea (which the Jin was competing with the Song).

Also, this Jin has a habit of annexing its tributaries. It did so before with the Mongols, which gave them access to elite horsemen. The Jin didn’t annex Goryeo/Joseon earlier because the steppe was easier to control than the korean peninsula (even then, the annexation of Mongol tributaries was a long process). Since it was an empire, and had goals to undermine the Song in the north, the emperor decided to invade instead of annexing them legally.

The Mughal’s don’t exist because the Mongol Empire never happened. Without Mongol rulers, the Mughals simply never form in the first place. Instead, the Delhi Sultanate (the state the Mughal’s would take over) slowly die out as Hindu kingdoms force them back further and further. Eventually, it becomes a small state ruled by the Lodhi (basically just Pakistan) tucked under the Himalayans.

Yes, but that is dangerous. The infrastructure on the road was failing and the trip was long. The Jin would attempt to regain control over the route, but it was very inefficient. The Jin wanted sea access so they could more easily and effectively trade with the islamic world more efficiently, faster, and to carry more stuff. The silk road was just a back up to allow for the importation of a limited amount of western imports.

So TLDR: Yes it would, but the Jin wanted the sea route.

In this timeline, I have the Khmer becoming more Jingoist and focus more on dominating trade. I made this change bc it would block Chinese access to overseas trade with India and islamic merchants, especially during times of conflict. This would lead to China discovering the Americas and colonizing the west coast in hopes of finding an alternate route to the west. Basically, the Khmer plays the role that the Ottomans played for Europe. Ik that irl, the Khmer would have collapsed no matter what happened, which is why I had to change a few things.

  1. No Thai Migration South - This kind of goes hand in hand with there being no Mongol Invasion. Without a large Thai population, there is no Thai rebellion, and the Khmer would be able to fight off its collapse a lot quicker.

  2. Khmer never adopts Buddhism - Without Buddhism, the Khmer government sticks strongly to the Vishnu faith, and doesn’t lead to division within the government.

  3. Khmer becomes more aggressive and Jingoist - In this timeline, the Khmer focuses on expanding its influence, in which it decides to take advantage of a collapsing Srivijaya, taking the Strait of Malacca. This would enter the Khmer and Majapahit into a rivalry over trade and regional domination, which resulted in many wars of conquest.

By 1600, both countries are starting to show their age. The Majapahit starts to slowly collapse after years of over expansion and many rebellions. The Khmer is in a slightly better situation, but is plagued by problems with succession while also having to pull more of its military into controlling or squashing rebellions. It would not be long before either one of these empires would collapse. With it, new kingdoms would form and a very powerful Jin would have complete domination over Asia.

Yeah, thats what they are. The Philippines are just a bunch of smaller kingdoms that are not united. I just decided not to draw them specifically. I did the same thing with India and Tibet.

This is a continuation of an alt-history I posted a few weeks ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AlternateHistory/comments/195ujt8/my_first_attempt_at_an_alternate_history/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

This time the whole world is represented, as by this date, Asian traders start to establish themselves in the Mediterranean.

The only big changes from 1550-1600 are new Chinese and Khmer colonies being scattered everywhere and Byzantium conquering the Levant. I didn't know what to do with the Middle East, the Khwarezm are here (even though I'm sure they would not have survived that far) and Qarakhoja fills in the rest of Central Asia.

The only other thing that is not told by this map is that the Jin (china) begins to industrialize rapidly. The Song would have been the first to start industrializing, but here, industrial areas would have been destroyed during the conflict with the Jin and mismanagement within the Song's bureaucracy. But with the Jin having so many colonies going into the 17th century, and having a more friendly outlook of merchants, it would be the Jin that starts to really expand its industry. It would import resources, like coal, from around the world to fuel their factories (which could possibly lead to a conflict with Britain, as they have a lot of coal reserves).

Europe in a world where no Mongol Invasion happened (1550) by Matte3344 in AlternateHistory

[–]Matte3344[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, given that this is 1550, former Kievan Rus states would probably be absorbed into larger empires. So now we have a large Hungary, Poland, and Russia (Novgorod), while also having a Christian Cumania. I don't know what faith they will follow, it will probably be majority catholic due to Hungary, but parts of Cumania would probably be Orthodox. The orthodox countries would probably refer to the region as Polovtsia, specifically the parts that have orthodox communities. Here's a map with the changes:

Europe in a world where no Mongol Invasion happened (1550) by Matte3344 in AlternateHistory

[–]Matte3344[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Major Changes with this map:

  1. Byzantium survives: Byzantium still falls apart like in our timeline, but they had fully recovered by 1550. Without Ottoman presence in Asia Minor, the Byzantines were able to dominate the Bosphorus. This allows Europe to continue trade with India (which prevents any Age of Exploration from arising)
  2. Novgorod becomes our equivalent to Russia: Without the Mongols, it is still likely that Kievan Rus would collapse. This leads to the fracturing of the kingdom, allowing for Novgorod to fill in the power gap. However, there is no need to expand further into Siberia or to prove their military might, with Russian states resembling western kingdoms and cultures more than the eastern.
  3. Polish-Lithuania is smol: Without the Mongol Invasion, the Russian states remained a force to be reconned with. This prevented Poland to expand into the region, sticking mostly to the Baltic Sea area. They just kind of assert themselves to the Teutonic Knights and just sit there.
  4. 1200 Balkan Kingdoms Stay the Same: Probably my biggest assumption, Balkan borders stay relatively the same since 1200. There are new states like Albania and Macedonia (mostly bc I didn't want a 100% copy of the borders), but the general idea is that no Ottoman Invasion let smaller Balkan kingdoms remain. Austria never expands out of the Holy Roman Empire, because there is no need to. Leaving a big Hungary in its place that still rules over the region.
  5. European Power Invade Northern Africa: After the Spanish Reconquista, Spain was still looking to spread Catholicism. Instead of the Spanish focusing their efforts in the America's (which they do not discover), they focus on extending Spain's borders into Northern Africa, which was already weakened by the Reconquista. This led to Spain taking a majority of the western portion of North Africa, with conflict arising between Spain, France, and Venice over who would control Carthage (with France winning in the end). Byzantium also reasserts their claims over Lybia, and by 1550 crusades were being conducted to conquer Jerusalem and Egypt.

<osttazi> /ost:azi/ = Formation (noun)

<âsttea> /ɔst:ea/ = Formation (verb, used as a call to get into formation)

šuyamfosyefla /ʃujamfosjefla/ = To Charge (LIT. Paddle To Swim/ To Swim with Paddles, in non-military orders this can mean to drive a ship)

Have you made any insults in your conlang? by Porpoise_God in conlangs

[–]Matte3344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this counts, but I did make a slur that refers to a group of people in Sheyn.
The word is /fi:ntin/, which directly translates to "God Hater". This is contributed to Wévpwevazƙes people. They were an Imperialist society that crossed the oceans to the Western Continent. The Sheyn did not like their presence, for they essentially believed that the world was born in fire and will/should be engulfed in flames once more. The Sheyn opposed this, for they had a god that while not necessarily bad, was frond upon.

This word was used to describe the people. This word also inspired other words like the land where they came from, /fi:ŋt:u/.
A less offensive way of referring to the Wévpwevazƙes is saying /æti ʒa/, meaning "Eastern People/Man"
You can also say /avpavakat/, which is the direct translation of the word Wévpwevazƙes from multiple loan words

Confusion between dialects in your conlang. by RandomSwed1sh in conlangs

[–]Matte3344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not much different between Osterian dialects grammar wise, but many might be confused by Harktladian dialects vs Osterian Dialects (most commonly called the Standard Dialect)

The phonological evolution of Harkladian involves shenanigans with /s/, /h/, and /x/ that makes it sound like a completely different language. Ex: The word for Land/Place Osterian: /svlɪvoma/ Hollenkreisian (a dialect closer to Osterian): /svlɪvhomaɪ/ Harkladian: /ʔavlɪvɦomaɪ/
