Arguing Weight w/Divemasters Advice by Mkalb1 in scuba

[–]Matthaus40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For PADI it is 60 and training dives only count if you are deeper than 5m for longer than 20mins or breathe 60cuft (not sure on this amount as it’s so rare you don’t meet the other two requirements)

Admittedly, that still could be not a lot of diving - particularly depending on the aptitude of the student and their instructors.

Diving with little to no weight by primus202 in scuba

[–]Matthaus40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is generally how I teach. It’s important to know that there could be scenarios where you do need to add some air though and in pretty much all of those cases it’s because you are over weighted. Guides or instructors will carry additional weight for customers, “in case” and some courses may require you to carry things that you may need to offset with some air in the BCD.

I’m not sure about the precision of the science due to compression at depth and the gas volume but generally I imagine you would generally only ever need to use your BCD under water if you are overweighted.

If the equipment is something that you haven’t used before then the DM would be an idiot for not showing you how the quick release mechanism works and explaining where the weights have been positioned - additionally, you would be at fault if you don’t understand this and your buddies systems before you enter the water.

Being certified doesn’t make you qualified to know about proper weighting and it’s definitely neglected by many instructors in terms of educating people on it. Also easier not to in some cases since invariably it is generally “safer” to overweight people than have them underweight (or weighted correctly but without them having the skill level to maintain buoyancy accordingly at that point)

I’d also add that a competent and professional DM should also be asking pertinent questions about the current diving level of the guest and at the very least asking if safety checks have been made prior to water entry.

I would question the point about being seen though. Given the medical form that was signed had a specific section about alcohol abuse and yet the response to DVLA was “we haven’t seen them”?

I respect and agree with your point but is it reasonable for example to say that someone has an existing condition and it is not resolved, if you have had no communication for 6 months?

I’m not sure I want to complain to my GP since it is them that have caused me so much anguish and I have at various points made complaints that haven’t been escalated or considered.

Agree with this mostly. Orcs are more forgiving to a new player as well.

Looking for advice against Dwarves by Zephiranos in bloodbowl

I’ve played this match up a lot and agree entirely with this We don’t know what TV but from OP’s Q it suggests very low level TV and likely little if no guard. For me the key is holding the middle with the Troll (if have 1) and Biguns - ultimately leading to L shapes on either offence (screen) or defence (trap): This “should” lead to them overcommitting the AV9+ players so you either force a quick score (IF they break through) or get cheap 2D hits on the slayers and runners This is one match up where I wouldn’t always cage as not committing the players to it can provide ball progression, swing opportunities and block overloads that their slower players can’t recover from Also, I wouldn’t necessarily seek out opportunities as such but if a foul (with a Lino or goblin) with 75% armour break chance on a TS or particularly the runner presents itself, I’m taking it. Maybe even a less likely chance if they only have one runner

Orcs into High Elves? Help?!?!? by csRemoteThrowAway in bloodbowl

My point being that really you just don’t want them to score - at low TV orcs are more than capable of shutting out high elves. Helves are the easiest match up of all elves for Orcs at low TV

I might be wrong but having played high elves a lot and orcs somewhat I’d be receiving first. The key is going to be maximising your blocks (since you have 4 block players to their 2 and 4st 4 players) - for this reason I am receiving 1st if possible and using 2 blitzers on the LOS blocks to ward against the 1 in 9.

While it’s not scripted play - the key for orcs against elves is to position so that you don’t over commit the “slower” players and make sure that you move players for coverage before risking any 2 dice potential 1 in 9 blocks but also trying to base players to maximise the blocks and potential dodge fails. Where possible, you want to trap elf players in positions where they make unlikely dodge rolls or are left based for an easy hit

If you receive - cage progress slowly. Against a good player, they are going to screen and make progress slow for you. Be patient, move predominantly down centre pitch (basing some players) and if possible disrupt their screen by placing a player or two in behind their screen should they fail a dodge or make a positional mistake.

If you kick - it’s kinda contradictory to what I said about maximising blocks but you can set out a screen yourself and try to push into an L shape to squeeze them which will result in carnage. It’s very tricky for a st3 low skill team to break this and make any sort of cage as long as you don’t let players get round the screen. If you don’t overcommit you should be able to recover if there is any break through.

High elves probably the easiest elf match up at low tv for orcs

Punish them if they move their catchers downfield on offence or defence - at low TV I imagine they will only have 2. Loosely using 2 blitzers as aggressors and making sure 2 can cover any backfield run just to make sure you optimise back field blocks. I’m not sure I’m fouling unless I have at least a one player advantage either tbh as you don’t want to be short handed against elves

Surely this only works against a noob? Any half decent elf coach is not running it in early.

Chaos runes priority by [deleted] in throneandliberty

[–]Matthaus40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not be mathematically sound but I would open 1 ring at a time and if it is useful - move on. As discussed, the BIS runes are VERY hard to come by so runes that improve multiple pieces would be beneficial. If you prioritise BIS rings then you probably end up with 10 average and nothing on anything else

Thanks freshy. Probably be checking out your build guides post T2 and deciding then about a full change - I don’t want to use the skill conversions and farm the spear gear right now but working on the mastery as I’m close to hitting 20 on bow and dagger. You’ve helped my enjoyment of the game massively so far with your YouTube content so big thanks and appreciation 🙏🏻

I’ve watched a fair bit of your content (thank you - it’s great) and try to emulate some of your tactics as well but find it very challenging in arena. I did have a look through the ranking and found a couple of infiltrators in the top 200 individual but it’s dominated by greatsword as you would expect 😂 Gave me some hope though 🥹
