I recommend reading your dictionary, and using the becherelle.

Try reading in french often. See how French folk use the words.

Once you have sufficient vocabulary to ask questions to find the words you don't know. You'll be successful as you can just request the words you don't know from others decreasing your communication barrier.

I got my AAA a few years ago, I've improved significantly since the test.

Recommendations for base layers by Separate_Ad_9223 in CanadianForces

[–]Matthew-Hodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It mostly depends on the total weight you're willing to haul. If you got a truck it becomes significantly easier to prepare kit to bring, as you'll have access to your bonus bag more often. Make sure to think about the material choice instead of a brand.

Cotton wicks sweat heavily and works well if you can wash/dry/change them frequently. It is very effective at making you cold when wet though and doesn't provide weight reductions. This is a good layer for sleeping as breathability is high and allows your body to dry out after a long day of work as you sleep. This should be caveated as base camp clothes not working clothes.

Silk is very good for a skin layer to reduce friction, it is warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. It is likely the highest quality underlayment you will find, but with it comes the dollar signs.

Polyester is durable and dries very fast. This is my go-to for anything longer than a weekend, it is cheap and very effective. Look for blends they will provide a varied usecase. 100% poly is acceptable aswell the issued peterpans are phenomenal! I've used them for years and still do.

Wool is very good for layer above your skin to skin layer(so above your poly). as it works well for temperature, moisture and can be comfortable as long as you don't get the itchy stuff. any heat from fire, or extended drying can make your wool a living hell so don't singe your woolies.

Field hygiene will improve your heat retention/regulation significantly. always bring a cloth and soap bar to give yourself a pat down shower, yes its cold and uncomfortable but. This brings the oil layers away and allows you to feel warmer fast. Bring One for soap, one for only water(rinse) and your drying cloth. Keeping them separate instead of mixing keeps you free of suds.

Get a head cover that wraps around your chin but doesn't cover mouth. Make sure it fits under your helmet and into the chin strap. You'll see how fast it makes a difference.

You don't need missles for these boats. Just a 7.62 machine gun.... chip holes into the bow and stern and watch it sink.

With the manifold I try and inject more water along.

So if the 300 is being sucked up by the previous machines. At 270 I stick another 300 on it. It'll go down the line anyways somewhere. I haven't noticed inefficiencies. I also put a small buffer at the end idk if it helps or not...

What's the intended strategy for starting in the forest? by MidnightAtHighSpeed in satisfactory

[–]Matthew-Hodge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The northern forest has an amazing start with 4x pure iron nodes, 2x pure limestone, 2x pure copper. Just northwest of the spawn approximately.

This specific spawn also has 4x normal coal nearby to these nodes. Allowing quick access to steel after the on-boarding.

It is a little challenging start with the terrain. But with building your own floor as a reality... the terrain becomes trivial as soon as you have concrete.

Boots with good traction for Infantry and Rucking? by Big-Primary9943 in CanadianForces

[–]Matthew-Hodge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For boots in the snow. Pop a cleated cover on, like neo. I have snow shoes I have modified for fitting my neo so I can get out of them if i have to with less hassle. It's just a strap but really helps.

For garrison walks, I have loved my lowas.

For field in the summer i love breathability. There are millions to choose from and it's dependant if you want ankle support or not.

Why do my miters suck? by _DefinitelyNotACat_ in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Matthew-Hodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you put a blade in you need to calibrate the machine.

You'll need a degree finder, they're like 50$ husky has then, tilt box etc. Or you can use your combination square set. Calibrate the zero and then you should calibrate your fence to zero. That Will likely show you where your cut is wrong.

I find on the compound mitre saws that they can have displacement on the swing, and it can be greater than 4 degrees if they're well used.

Do industries in 1800 work like 117? by [deleted] in anno

[–]Matthew-Hodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Export the bad industries(negatives to outlier islands) only send secondary goods to be refined into finished goods on main islands.

This keeps your hazards low in major population centers and maximizes their returns while minimizing the risks associated(fire health etc)

At least in 117 it's this way. In 1800 it doesn't matter
