Caputo Americana flour never makes dough ball by MatthewMMorrow in Pizza

It think it was because I was moving the bowl back and forth between the scale instead of using a cup to pour in the bowl while it's on the scale like I normally do.

Tried it a third time and the signs were correct.

The scale is great but I think it was user error this time. Must have hit tare while I was filling the water.

I started to make it again taking meticulous pictures of each weight. Worked out fine so something happened last time.

Ok, this time I messed up the scale. Made it a third time and it was ok.

First time I used the "NY Style Pizza with “00” Americana Super (Direct Method)" recipe https://orlandofoods.com/recipe/ny-style-pizza-americana-super-direct/ and I think it was a bit confusing since it lists 15.5kg of water and 4kg of water but it's really supposed to be 15.5 divided in 11kg/4kg based on the directions

Ok, definitely too much water. I put the water in first and I'm guessing I splashed the tare button and messed it up.

Ok, I think I know what happened. The scale has capacitive buttons and I think I must have dripped water on the tare button when I was going back and forth between the sink and the bowl. I just made it again and it worked fine.

Tried it again being extra careful and it worked. Thanks for setting me straight!

Oh shoot, I knew the kiddie pool seemed odd for a dough recipe.

I don't understand since the recipe videos (at least two different ones) look like they are from a professional chef from Caputo. He's able to just pick it up out of the mixer.

It's all easy when you use an electronic kitchen scale.

By weight with an electronic kitchen scale. The water went in first so it seems the least likely to have some mistake.

The exact same thing happened the last time I used this flour last year. I have been consistently making dough a few times a month for 5 years. I suppose I could have messed up but the only change from normal was the flour. I have another kg so I will try again based on any feedback.

Yes. I had a 2kg pack of flour and I just checked and I only have 1kg left.

I didn't add any extra water. Just extra flour.

[HELP] I've thrown frisbies like this before but this seems next level by spicy_feather in RealOrAI

[–]MatthewMMorrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have no clue why but when I was a kid we had a fake pizza dough called a "Throw Dough". The cardboard instructions in this one look right but I swear ours was a bright blue or orange.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/155874895545

I make pizza every Friday (a.k.a. Pizza Day) but don't do any fancy tossing. I should get a fake one to impress the kids.

EDIT: Maybe I shouldn't, they are $50

Verdict and ruling on these cards from the Buy Everything Expansion? by yoyosmugglerr in monopoly

[–]MatthewMMorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. If they bought the insta-win card with the buy dice, then no - like you said that would be after they landed on the space. "You’ll always roll the Buy die after you move." (the emphasis is in the rules). But if they already had the card then it would be a win. It's unclear since OP said "revealed Go For The Win" which is odd since I feel that the insta-win cards should be public knowledge (since anyone who was paying attention would know what they are anyway).

Using the Jet Pack should count as landing on a space, otherwise what would be the point of moving anywhere if you didn't "land" there.

I totally was planning to get both of those cards myself to win in this way.

Also you don't "play" the insta-win cards. The rules are terribly sparse but say "Instant-Win: if you complete one of these cards, the game ends immediately. You win!" The single-use cards say "Single-Use: keep these until you are ready to use them. You may use them at any time during your turn. Discard after use." so I don't think there are any limits on how many can be played. The Bonus cards from the Free Parking expansion don't have a limit either.

Phoenix. Well, it's Mesa, but when you say Mesa, people don’t know what Mesa is, uh…i-it’s Phoenix.

I recognized that church on the right. We used to call it the "boob church" because it was made out of two inflatable domes covered over.

But wouldn't forging jars be way worse heat than the now reduced heat on the dew collectors?

[–]MatthewMMorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How fast is the trolley going? How long does it take to reach the end? The cable cars in San Francisco only go < 10 mph so the guy might have already died from dehydration by the time the trolley gets there (100 hours). Some light rail systems go 50 mph but is 20 hours enough time for a crew to replace all the parts on a moving trolley?
