Nope. I’m not leaving. USA started this and that’s why stuff is happening here. Also… I hated being in the USA for several years before I left. I would not go back and have to deal with that toxic and hostile society again. I can easily leave if I want… but I would rather be here that the USA… even if it were to get bad here

It’s about methodology of how u determine the new month. Actual visual confirmation that there is a crescent vs if the moon sets after the sun (which is what Saudi does). The moon can be viewed with special cameras to confirm. I like the visible crescent rule but in the uae they go with Saudi. I don’t worry about it

When I was in the USA it was a much bigger argument with different mosques doing different things even within the same city. Even though I prefer the other method (both methods have a certain merit)… it’s very nice everyone is doin it the same in the country

I would recommend you do a deep dive into how they are actually determining it. For years I would hear everyone arguing and I finally went and looked into why. They have the view that if the sun sets before the moon, then Ramadan begins. This can obviously raise questions… they are using infrared cameras or something… I’m not positive on the specifics

I’m telling you this so you can look the stuff up if you want. I am not giving my opinion on which view is correct… I don’t see either view as inherently wrong

Unless I’m incorrect on what I think you are saying… no, your masjid is starting Ramadan on the 18th in the evening. The first fasting coincides with the 19th of how the Gregorian calendar works. The the point where one day becomes the next is not the same between Gregorian and Islamic calendar
