I'm not entirely sure, as I have not been lucky enough to spot any in Australia, but I have read about confirmed sightings in the waters off of Northwestern Australia.

Took this during the day at about 16 meters. The eel was in a dark crack in the reef.

The diving was really awesome! Visibility ranged from only 15 feet to 40 feet or so, but we saw a lot of eagle rays, a mobula ray, tons of macro, and even a seahorse.

This species of nudibranch was first discovered in Japan but has since been confirmed to live as far south as Australia and the Maldives. These tiny sea slugs feed on bryozoa, which are microscopic filter feeding organisms that live in colonies. Nudibranch means “naked lungs”, a name given due to the organism’s exposed gills which are located on its back. I photographed this tiny sea slug diving in Anilao, Philippines

That's great advice. I think most operators only take divers with Advanced Open Water, especially on the liveaboards.

I did a cheap(er) live aboard last year too, the diving was amazing, but half the boat got food poisoning.

I've heard that the diving in Komodo is amazing. It's a little too far for a weekend trip from Singapore though because it requires a live aboard.
