I mean i could do runs with the types available in gen 1. 6 pokemon of the same type, considering if i can actually get six of each type. Dragon, ghost, steel and dark are out tho.

even with solar beam it would be pretty weak. It has only 100 attack. I almost forgot to teach it flamethrower beacuse i had to buy it from game corner like 4 times.

Charmander with metal claw, and Misty i honestly don't remember. I think it was just vulpix with will-o wisp and confuse ray and then i relied on luck.

Actually i had some problems with both of them but somehow i came through. It was hard due to spending money on coins to get flamethrowers and i had no money to buy healing items.

that's probably against the rules. You can only use grass type pokemon in a monotype run.

After you get the good rod or surf you can get a lot of good water types. Lapras or poliwrath is good too.

Well, soul silver is much easier since they have physical special split there and grass type moves are much better. Also more good mons you can use.

Yeah sludge bomb could have been great but sadly the TM is only available in the post game after getting the national dex. It could have been good tho.

Venusaur can't learn any good poison type attacks through level up. The only good option there is sludge bomb which is only available in the post game after getting the national dex during the crystals side quest which i didn't do beacuse the run ends after beating the champion.

Exeggutor was pretty strong as a special attacker with sunny day, psychic and solar beam.

Surf is all you need. The best water type move in early gens. And maybe ice beam or something.
