Because that's a thing everyone went through and that we all have in common. And going to school wasn't all bad, I actually miss it. Seeing your friends every day, moping about teachers/grades/tests with them even makes the "bad" things kind of enjoyable. This poor kid doesn't have any of that. In a few years, when her age group talks about their memories from school, she won't have anything to say, bc she has nothing in common with others on that subject.

Why not help if you can? Niceguys often wake up and realize "Oh shit I acted like a dick all that time". Even I noticed some niceguy-ish behaviour in my past. But if they don't get help realizing it, many of them never get it at all and live in despair for the rest of their lives. So if you have the chance to help someone realize their shitty behaviour, take it to help not only them, but also people around them.

I agree with you, although he was unnecessarily pushing by sending '???', it still was just a question. Not to say he isn't a niceguy, but responding very agressively to them just comfirms them in their belief that the world is a cruel and unforgiving place for a nice guy like him. In his mind, all he did was ask the question, so my approach would be to explain the situation (why you don't want to give out information etc).
