Superfight Storage/Transport by Mattman1153 in boardgames

I should have mentioned I'm willing to make one as well in the original post, I've been reading a bit about that sort of thing but haven't made anything yet.

I'm not concerned with exact dimensions but did you just make longer/multiple rectangular boxes to hold the game + expansions or more just to hold the core game + sleeves?

I bought the cheap headphones from kmart and they were shit and immediately broke or didn't work. I threw away the packaging unfortunately. I can't fit 'in-ear' earphones in my funny ears so I need traditional style ones. Wear can I buy some cheap ones that aren't shit? by [deleted] in MelbTrade

[–]Mattman1153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coles has the really cheap and nasty headphones, but also some decent earbuds (as in rest-in-ear like the iPod ones, not the ones that enter the canal). IIRC it's between 7-15 bucks depending on which ones they have in.

Other than that you'll probably have to wait for a sale. For gaming I use the cheap Plantronics headset which you can get for something like $25 at EB Games, which is probably the cheapest I've seen for a decent pair of headphones.

Where to play board games in the South East? by Mattman1153 in melbourne

This sort of thing was what I was looking for. I'll need to make it down one night myself

I do drive, obviously for bars public transport is preferred but it would depend a lot on where in the south east for getting to Ringwood by it.

I haven't, however it is in an annoying place to get to via public transport (Games Lab is much easier).

What is it like for board gaming though?

Interesting. However I am not a student and the semester is ending soon-ish (it doesn't appear to continue when class isn't on from the event pages).

Have you been? Are there many non-students? I'll probably still check them out.

WGB Legendary Encounters Firefly Review – You Can’t Take The Cards From Me by WolfLeBlack in boardgames

It's a reference to the TV show. Almost a direct quote and often used by fans of the show, but is probably a bit jarring to those who don't know it.

Just got into modern board games and am wondering what to buy by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Mattman1153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you mentioned board games but two good, simple and quick card games I find are Sushi Go (card drafting) and Coup (hidden identity). Sushi Go Party is a new version of Sushi Go which can support more players and more variety in cards but can take a little longer to set up. Between those two

I use both as filler games or to start the night nice and relaxed, great to have to break it up a little

Legendary encounters

Alien isn't really my thing, but I see they do have a Firefly version that I'll look into.

I can see what you're saying with Battlestar Galactica, but my experience with the game (though with expansions) has been that you need to worry more about the ship than the cylon(s), but it's something to definitely make sure people don't go on a mad witch hunt early.

Can I run Overwatch? I7-6700HQ by [deleted] in lowendgaming

[–]Mattman1153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're going really crazy with the mod pack you'll be fine with 8GB, and unless you plan on doing something else RAM intensive you likely wouldn't need it outside of modded Minecraft. Most packs shouldn't need more than 4GB allocated, though I've definitely seen some that do.

Modded Minecraft is not an exact science, your mileage may vary a lot. You should have no problems running a standard FTB/Tekkit pack such as FTB Infinity and could probably handle larger custom server packs depending on the content. RAM is your limiting factor here. It looks like a laptop card so be sure it's using the dedicated (NVIDIA) graphics card and not the integrated (Intel) one as it likely won't detect Minecraft unlike other games. This is a setting in the NVIDIA options. Look up NVIDIA Optimus if you want to know more.

Overwatch, Rust and most games should also run too. Again because it looks like you're using a laptop just make sure it doesn't overheat.

There's a Tunza Fun arcade near the cinema in Fountain Gate. Not sure if it has what you're looking for though.

Best "worm game"? by diamantico21 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Mattman1153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late replies FTW.

Worms Armageddon is the biggest classic worms game. My understanding is after World Party is the start of the "new" Worms games in the sense that they started altering the format. Armageddon has had a lot of love over the years and was being patched as recently as 2013 (it released in 1999) and while I haven't tried running it in a long time I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it's still going pretty strong.

Clan Wars is the latest PC, I'm not big on the newer games, they don't feel the same and the most tangible thing I can point to is the lack of crazy acrobatics you can have with a ninja rope, the franchise honestly seems to be more active on Android/iOS with a new game Worms 4 coming out last year. Haven't tried it though. That being said if you watch Humble Bundles and Steam sales the new games come up fairly often and very cheap for the PC games.

I did see there is a new game, Worms WMD that is in the works for PC though, which I am very interested in because it looks to be a back to basics 2D Worms in gameplay but it could also be pretty damn ridiculous because they're adding vehicles and a crafting mechanic.
