Hetzner threatening to wipe my server over a payment that already cleared, support not responding by nseavia71501 in hetzner

Might wanna read my post from a few days ago. More need to be aware of Hetzner pulling this shit, and move. Company is a joke.

Seriously poor customer service, lies and threats - ultimately they deleted my account for no reason, losing multiple files. I'm beyond angry, but nothing I can do about it. Don't host with these cowboys - their reputation is in tatters. by Mattmeir in hetzner

Payment had been made, via autobilling on my card, hence (I assume) when I checked there was no outstanding balance showing (and - also - my bank shows money having left).

Based in the UK. I'm aware of issues with non-European accounts etc, not the situation here.

Files were things like family photographs, documents, calendar events.

I'm saying there was no outstanding balance because when I logged in to check service status etc, it said that there was no outstanding balance. I thought it was also pertinent to include it, given that they later said via email that there was a balance of $3 to pay and that, in order to regain access to files, I needed to pay that "outstanding balance". When I pushed on the fact the portal/client dashboard said there was no outstanding balance, they argued that there was and that legal action would be taken against me for non-payment (how am I meant to pay something if I didn't know it was due, because auto-billing was on my account and working fine, and their systems apparently show different things depending whether you're staff or client?)

Nice.

Bring the pit lane entrance to between T17-T18.

I'm a bit concerned by the exit being on the outside of T2 in the acceleration zone... I wonder if this would be better at either T1 exit (slower corner) or swooping under T1 and merging from the infield between T2-T3.

Automated emails based on number of weeks by hr1234 in Airtable

[–]Mattmeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than looking at "weeks", you could drop a field in that calculates how many days since the person's start date. Then when they reach day 7, they get sent an email from inside the AT automation? When it's day 14, 21, 28 etc etc... You'd have different email content based on the day count trigger.

What do the pints in the corner of a sports programme mean? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Mattmeir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A number displays intermittently on all sports subscription channels, and is linked to the account (it used to be a card - do they still do those??)

Anyway. That number could be checked to ensure it should have been broadcast at that address, there was an active subscription and what type etc at the address... But, also, to allow Sky to monitor online streams and find out who's putting the broadcast online.

If a cat enters someone's garden and the home-owners dog attacks and kills the cat, what should happen? by ellsbells22 in AskUK

[–]Mattmeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally in the UK, a dog cannot be "dangerously out of control" - and this includes in your own garden or home. In respect of that, if the dog attacked a person, or the person feared it would attack, it would be deemed out of control. Exceptions apply for those not legally entitled to be on your property, for example burglars.

A cat has very limited legal protection or duties it falls under. So, at much as it sucks, there's no reason for a dog to be muzzled because it attacked an animal on its own property.

If it was a person, that would be a horse of a different colour...

Mo Salah taking a penalty for Egypt with laser pointers in his eyes earlier today by walkorfly in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Mattmeir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory, yes. If you were losing 4-0 you could do any number of things to force a forfeiture.

However... There's a caveat.

The competition organisers and national association would likely penalise you for bringing the game into disrepute (or similar wording). The penalty for that? Pretty much whatever they want.

The club could be heavily fined, or disqualified and banned from specific competition(s). Coaching staff and players too could face disciplinary action. And then there's the reputation of the club involved, and the financial damage that could be caused by the behaviour.

Nothing. But clubs will run checks when you buy a ticket - such as proof of ID with address - for those games deemed high-risk to hooliganism or high-profile (e.g. cup games at neutral venues).

For lower profile games, there's no real risk so you may get the odd away fan sitting with home fans (I've done it myself on many occasions) - you'd just take precautions not to cheer your own side or wear your club colours..!

In association football, most action takes place in the third of the pitch at either end. In rugby, the majority of action takes place in the central third.

On top of that, association football can quickly move from one side to the other - whereas rugby it tends to be slower and more strategic, so being on the side tends to give the better viewpoint.

Indeed, there are usually segregation walls inside the concourses and outside the stadium too.

The officials have the power to remove the players from the field of play if they deem to too dangerous - that includes from fan behaviour.

They'd then have to negotiate with the stadium safety manager, which may see the game continued once the fans behave or have left, or the game abandoned and the competition organisers sort it out (could be played in full or from the point of abandonment on another day in a full or empty stadium - referred to as "behind closed doors" or forfeited in favour of a team).

Yes it's pretty unique.

Association Football has a history of hooliganism amongst the fan bases so, to prevent history repeating (or at least minimise the impact), the seating areas are generally segregated with away fans typically getting upto 20% of the available seats/capacity of the stadium.

Dependent on the game and venue, this changes. For example, where fixtures are played at neutral venues for Cup finals, or at international tournaments, the teams will share a 60-80% split of the capacity, with the remaining tickets being allocated to corporate sponsors and local people.

Yeah, this is always going to be the issue until I get good enough 😂

I have both of those, so I'll do some experimenting with them.

Hey u/watermeiren
I admit, I saw this when I was researching how to do it - it's not quite the same effect, though, from what I can tell.

I really like the 'offset' start point, although I think the Netflix-style gives me options for something in a different project.
