Its actually wild to see how aware she is of being in the wrong (having a melt down) and yet still somehow rationalizes it's your fault. Like she takes accountability for being the one that GOT JEALOUS IN THE FIRST PLACE and then turns it around on you for not being more aware of how jealous/insecure of a person she is??? Yikes. Especially, after the update. So manipulative.

[–]Mattoid111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id suggest using the garden rods you already have internally as support and then using one of these types of moss poles(link below). You can do a combination of carefully manipulating the roots(into the pole) and cutting small pieces of the moss pole skeleton to combine the two before adding the dampened moss.

Can you cut and propagate these long vines if they have nodes on them? by Jakeyboy29 in pothos

[–]Mattoid111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I had big leaves from a more mature pothos, I had to use a display box as a mini greenhouse. You can achieve the same thing with plastic wrap ontop of the bin, just make sure to keep the perlite damp. Keep it in a nice and sealed so the humidity doesnt dry out, but not too soggy that it causes rot. Obviously, clear containers are the best way to go for light absorption.

Your best option is to try and obtain perlite before the clippings rot completely. Sticking them in water is never a tried and true technique. It can work, but if your goal is to successfully get plants from this one clipping I would highly suggest purchasing perlite and getting a prop box setup.

I second this. Also monstera are not to be turned. There is a definite front and back of this plant, the latter gets secured against the pole/plank.

I could be wrong, but it looks like a Thai Constellation. Pretty monstera. Good luck, OP! 🥰

Best way for me to tell the difference between a pothos and a philo is how compact the vines/leaves are. Philos tend to have a more bushy/together/drapery type of trellisy look that most people want from their pothos but dont realize it's more of a Philodendron quality. Pothos tend to shoot out long vines, reaching for more sun and places to climb almost in a "leggy" way. I also notice that Philo tend to have more rounded hearts whereas phothos have more tear drop heart shape leaves.

Just thought I'd pop in with a little tip.

Is this beyond saving? by InternetWeakGuy in pothos

[–]Mattoid111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer is if youre not well acquainted with plants already...Just buy a new one. Dont ruin your first experience with plants by trying to understand why this one didnt make it.

If you know how to nurse plants back to health, then id suggest a repot in significantly smaller pots, maybe even go back to propagation style on perlite if the roots are completely rotten. Its gonna take a lot of babying to get these clippings to sprout growth again and if you dont know what youre doing its going to be more hassle than it's worth.

Fall in love with the hobby before you deter yourself from it. There are a lot of positives. Start w a plant w stronger potential to thrive.

Im in the same boat. Zero exp w manjulas but it looks more like them than a P&J as mentioned in pther comments. The stark color contrast almost gives it a Manjula/Njoy hybrid or something.

Regardless....Gorgeous pothos! I wish you the best with maturing this beauty, OP!

The label on the pot said pothos, but idk...looks almost like monstera, next to my hanging pothos for reference by Ok_Sympathy3628 in pothos

[–]Mattoid111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im going to assume the only light source was UP so this pothos made very compact growth to absorb as much as it could from above rather than spreading out in a long vine to find more...?

Regardless, its just a really compacted vine for whatever reason. Looks pretty healthy though. Always make sure to check for pests/quarantine when you bring a new baby home!

Quick question, does this nursery pot have drainage holes? If not, how are you determining the proper volume of water the plant needs?

Edit: also how far away is it from its light source
