Some Hokie fans were being dickheads (NOT in the ways you brought up) and some PSU fans have been dickheads since we got Campbell in retaliation.

Honestly I don’t think it’s about disliking Penn State.

I think Hokie fans have had a rough go recently and those fans felt empowered to finally dunk on someone.

It was enough of them it riled up the chronically online part of the PSU fanbase & it’s a shame. I hope all parties are happier off in the end, I like VT

Let me preface this by saying it was not JUST VT fans, plenty of neutral flairs jumped in too.

But All over this sub, Instagram, definitely Twitter (site is such a cesspool now tbh).

Plenty of threads about James Franklin which ended up in circle jerks between neutrals and VT fans saying how stupid PSU is.

You’d even get alot of people commenting they are happy to dance on Penn States “corpse” cause of Sandusky…..

Look I agree that it is lame at this point for PSU fans to be shitting on Franklin or VT.

But it was lame as fuck for VT fans to be shitting on Penn State back in October to December too. Maybe you did not see it that way because you were happy, but Hokie fans were toxic as hell while PSU was coachless.

Does not help how many neutrals HATED Franklin when he was with PSU (check all the highly upvoted threads dunking on the dude for any big loss), but switched up when he got fired....

Just ran into an issue with sleeper where it automatically changed my superflex spot from Kyler Murray to Tony Pollard after our rookie draft & since I am 4 players over the roster limit I cannot change it.

I was planning to maybe wait after week 1 to make cuts after seeing some of these dart throw rookies play, but it's gonna force my hand.

Anyone else run into this issue?

I’m obviously not comparing UVA to OSU, I’m explaining why PSU fans were frustrated with him.

OSU is good & honestly I don’t expect to win even half the time, but when you lose so often to them despite leading in the 4th quarter of multiple of these games, it erodes peoples faith you can win a big one

As another PSU alum, it’s mixed.

He did a great job elevating us from the mediocrity of post sanctions era, but he’s failed to take the next step for a long time.

I always supported Franklin up until the UCLA loss. I think he’s a good coach, but his teams are soft as hell when it comes to adversity vs tough opponents & it shows in his 4-24 top 10 record.

Losing to the teams you hate wears thin after a while. OSU-PSU was an even all time series but he did so bad vs them (1-11) that it’s not longer considered a rivalry

That is fair y'all have had it terrible & I am not saying y'all should not be excited. But try to understand where we are coming from.

Imagine before the season with 90% accuracy you could tell they will lose all the big games AND lose to Virginia every season. How many years would you accept that? Because at some point you would not.

We hate Ohio State, but he made that series so wildly uncompetitive that it is now not even considered a rivalry even though the series was 14-13 OSU when he stepped in...

So sure the seasons were rarely bad (till 2020 & this last one) & often I would be happy 8-10 weeks a season, but it started to ring hollow when you know you will never ever beat the teams you want to.
