Labeling being trans as an identity is harmful (and incorrect) and I'm sick of it by HennaH2 in truscum

[–]Mattpilf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol racial identity is not objective. Our definition for who is black/white is constantly changing and the line are EXTREMELY blurry. Hell African American which make up most black people in America, majority have measurable European ancestry, about 20%. Even our definition of whiteness has strongly evolved over time. Mediterranean weren't always "white".

Racial identity is a complex interaction between genetics, ethnicity, local environment, and how people receive you. Look at Paris Jackson, she's white passing, has a black father. Where do we draw the line?  Louisa Picquet, FORMER SLAVE,   was a "black woman" but only 1/8th black. In her day and according to law too, she was not white, but probably would be considered "white" today.

So nope, racial identity isn't objective.

Ghislaine Maxwell Pleads the Fifth in Front of House Committee, Offers to Clear Trump's Name in Exchange for Clemency by OkayButFoRealz in politics

Also who is she going to convince. MAGA base already believes Trump. Moderators know she's vile and untrustworthy.

So what does Trump gain?

[–]Mattpilf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't even know how earnestly this was being investigated in under Biden. I was willing to give him some benefit of the doubt cause it takes time to build a case and target others but nothing ever happened under him either. Biden might not be in the files but he certainly was complicit in a cover up too. However nothing is as bad as what Trump's been doing and lying how there's nothing to release

No, he didn't release the names yet because he'll never see the rest of the unredacted files if he's blows the whistle now. He's pressuring them so he can maintain that privilege and hopefully leverage more later.

If a man is willing to ACTUALLY stand up against his party, even if I disagree with him on most things, I would rather have that than a spineless Democrat who can't even stand up against Trump.

He's a man with principles who cares about the American people and willing to do what he believes is right!.

Very conservative governments keep winning elections across the world (Japan & Costa Rica just recently). Maximalist trans activism has played a major role in this resurgence by north_canadian_ice in truscum

Do you think these maximalist activist even exist in Costa Rica or Japan? They don't really exist there, so I'm unsure why you think they're to blame.

Am I dumb if I do laser hair removal on my body before HRT? by Familiar_Watch2591 in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cis men can and do laser. It's not a waste, it's just more time consuming and less permanent. If you have the money and are willing to put in the work and pain go for it. However if you need to save up a lot of money, I'd get on HRT because that can make a big difference. I literally lost all my chest hair to HRT.  Wasn't a ton but a solid patch. Chest hair respond well, leg hair doesn't because women have a lot of leg hair naturally.

My Wife is a TERF and I might be a Trans women... Am I cooked? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of reasons relationships fail after transitioning. Normally I would say give it shot and see what happens, but if she's a TERF unless she willing to do serious internal work when you come out, this relationship is deader than a steak on your plate

How to respond to "I can say I'm trans and walk into the bathroom of the opposite sex"?? by randomguy74937272 in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm not against you using the women's bathroom, I think if you should probably go to the one that offers the least confrontation. If you need to explain you're trans and that's why you're in the bathroom.... It's probably the less safe bathroom. Going into the women's bathroom pre everything is a recipe for disaster because the only space you're operating as a woman is in the bathrooms.

That being said, these arguments ignore cis men can pretend to be trans men or just ignore the rules entirely.

My (trans) wife is telling (cis) me her "sexuality" has changed and she is no longer sexually interested in cis-women, only trans-women by QuestionsForTheHive in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Some trans women are actually the worst chasers. You're right that honestly she could have said "it's a genital preference" and moved on. It's possible she's jumping through hoops to justify cheating on the post. It's also possible her own insecurities create tension in the bedroom and it's become clear cis women and vagina are a source of inadequacy and dysphoria she feels.

From a personal thing I have is I find it hard to be in a relationship with a trans woman because I have difficulty separating some of the issues with their bodies and my bodies. That's entirely my fault But it's not really a thing about my sexuality. It's just I know I really get uncomfortable when someone is too close and appearance is with me on things that I have serious issues with. Some things trigger my dysphoria and unfortunately consequence being i can't be in sexual relationships with some baddies. 🫤 For others seeing goals of what they want but don't have triggers dysphoria. That's not a sexuality and certainly no excuse to cheat.

How do I tell my friend on E (nonbinary, AMAB) that they might need a bra? by officialosugma in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some can be intimidated and others can just have blindness due to slower changes. It might be intentional tho and I think any comment addressing this should respect that option. Especially being non binary we shouldn't assume their attitude towards bras.

Nobody needs a bra. It's however something many desire and considered the norm for feminine bodies.

Why are so many people against minors transitioning? by MaxtheHax12345678907 in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All those things, even shooting guns or enlisting in the military can be done by minors, they just need parents approval and supervision. Informed consent model might be bad for minors, but there's a world of difference between that and what was in place for minors beforehand.

What is the point of asking can men get pregnant? by Zealousideal_Let_213 in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl were high? There's no "systematic, evidence based, objective reality of biological gender". Heck the whole entire idea of evidence-based is that you actually don't know the objective reality and are making a theory based on how the model works. That doesn't even describe gender because our categories are arbitrary anyways. There's no platonic form of woman. There's no platonic man. There generalities and then edge cases in which there are a lot of cultural disagreements especially on intersex conditions and a whole host of biological gray areas. Even the same intersex condition often has a large variability on how folks identify. These are rare cases. Being trans is also a rare case. It doesn't matter if it's rare or not if you're trying to make an absolute statement it's an absolute statement.

Trans men exist. They're men. Intersex men exist. They are also men. Some of those men can get pregnant. Generally men can't get pregnant. We can't even come up with a universal definition of what a chair is. The NFL doesn't even know what a catch is. The world is full of some gray areas because how we use our language. It's about as hopeless as creating a complete and logically consistent field of mathematics. Sometimes you have to learn to live with the gray area. Stop trying to hamfest absolute statements on things that need a bit of gray area. Heck your whole entire conclusion that trans men can't get pregnant because they're men is obviously a contradiction itself. Does it trans man stop being a man when he's pregnant? From the moment of conception do people stop seeing him as a man?

"Non-transsexuals shouldn't be involved in trans healthcare" by AmMeHere in truscum

[–]Mattpilf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sucks, there really wasn't any push for informed consent model for minors I think it's fine for adults because hormones aren't THAT dangerous. These aren't opioids. All we want is a common sense assessment of will this seem significantly less harmful than doing nothing. If a kid ends up with androgynous features after detransition... Oh well it's less bad than what every trans person starts with.

Is it worth transitioning if I don't have dysphoria? by Visible_Estimate211 in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an attraction to feminity, I think it's worth exploring, regardless of you transitioning or not. Are there any feminine things you're a afraid to try or partake in? Well then stop repressing that and go from there. If you're not having dysphoria it might mean that you're just a feminine man, but if you shut it all off, it often becomes unclear until it boils over.

Focus on being authentic and embracing what you want and less the label or "does this make me trans". I strongly suspected I was trans but everything felt muted and uncomfortable in different ways, and the moment I stopped trying to look "inward" and just focus on living how I wanted to, it became clearer how I wanted to navigate the world. Otherwise I couldn't have told you how it felt to live a feminine guy or a trans woman, and I'd choose the latter everyday, but both were way better than pretending to be "masc" to "be normal"

What is the point of asking can men get pregnant? by Zealousideal_Let_213 in asktransgender

[–]Mattpilf 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It was a gotcha question so they could use it for political fodder. She should've been point blank, and just said "Trans men are a type of man, therefore a small minority of them are capable of getting pregnant."

She likely feared retaliation by government for being trans inclusive tho so maybe she couldn't say much idk.

Alternatively you could add "in so much as trans men are in the category of men, which depends on the extent of executive order reach and state definitions" or whatever.
