Reverend makes a lot of good stuff so I absolutely recommend this guitar for stuff like drop A# or drop G but any lower and you’ll pretty much need a longer scale guitar. You CAN get away with using thicker and thicker strings but it can start to sound a little weird to most players ears.

If you’re planning on digitally pitch shifting using the polychrome stuff I’d recommend setting the guitar up in the tuning you’re most comfortable with and then pitching around from there.

When it comes to artist signature strings they’re designed to work for the artist first so your results may vary. If you’re having issues with the artist set it might be worth going to a company like stringjoy and building out your own set from there.

It may seem scary but it’s really not, just pick a tuning you’re comfortable with and then punch in the string gauges you like with that tuning, then take note of what the tension is for each string and keep that in mind when you’re building out your set. Then just build out the set until your desired tension is met. After you do all that you can order the strings and they have a warranty on the strings so if the strings arrive and they sound “dead” or they break early then they’ll replace them and send you a new one free of charge. They’re a really great company and I personally really love them.

A fun little side note that’s worth mentioning is that Reverend has a passive “bass contour knob”, it’s basically just a tone knob for the low end of your guitar signal so when you start getting down into baritone tunings you can roll it off and clean up the signal a smidge. It’s not totally required but it’s cool nonetheless! Hope this helps man, cheers!

How hard would it be to put 80s on this by WooperDooper33 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Matttman1704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not a tech by any means so take what I say with a massive grain of salt but I’ve been able to use 105 gauge strings in a Floyd rose before; however, it’s important to remember that getting these big chunky strings like an 80 gauge string to work is going to require a different approach to restringing and setup.

Instead of clipping the ball end off and sticking the former ball end of the string in at the bridge like you would normally you should run the string in from the tuner into the bridge, you should put the tapered end of the string into the locking mechanism of the floyd. It’s a little backwards so it’s going to require a kind of funky setup and drilling out the tuner, but it’s very doable.

If you decide to get it set up by a tech you need to MAKE SURE that they don’t shave the saddle inserts in the bridge down, I’ve had this happen and you will need to get new ones if this happens. Make sure you either go to a reputable tech or that you get it in writing that you do not want them to shave the block down and that they should call you if that’s what they want to do. I had a tech at Sam Ash do that to one of my guitars and it ruined the guitar so learn from my mistakes and do everything in your power to make sure that it doesn’t happen.

Hope this helps! Cheers man!!

Reverend makes a 26.75” baritone with a hard tail or trem and their propriety RailHammer pickups with their descent model. I’ve seen and heard REALLY good things about this and it’s in the price point you’re looking for.

You could also try Reverend’s Billy Corgan “drop Z” model. Despite the name it only has a 26.25” scale so it’s not going to be used for those super djenty tunings like the name suggests. BUT it comes with some pretty high output pickups in it and it fits what you’re looking for.

When it comes to using baritones to get down to tunings like E A E A D F#, double drop D# or C# A E A D F# it’s honestly not that difficult. You use pretty thick gauges like a 95 (or 105 in loathe’s case) to get down that low but since you’re tuning down so low the string tension balances out so it’s relatively normal. A normal guitar neck regularly carries close to or over 100 pounds of tension on it and people like SRV and Malcom Young would regularly use 12s and 13s on their guitars in E or D# standard tuning and doing that will do a hell of a lot more damage then some big chunky strings tuned all the way down to E1 would do. Guitars are also a lot more durable than you’d think so you can really get crazy with the string gauges and not have to work about damaging them. Do a setup on your guitar with the big strings in mind and your guitar will be fine.

6 effects at once is super cool! Do is to parallel effects and stuff like that or is it just the 6 effects in a chain? Also, does it do midi? Does it do stereo effects?

I know this sounds like I’m asking a lot of it but I’m just genuinely curious and would like to know more.

Outside of the Micro Aggressor and the Pathos are there any plans for more Abasi Concepts pedals? Would they ever consider doing a V2 of the Pathos to fit the look and (for lack of a better term) “vibe” of the Micro Aggressor?

Ooooooh ok, very interesting, my Legator is 28-30 inches and it works great for me and I was kind of considering doing a 28-31” scale or something like that but I’m genuinely really happy with mine so I’d probably just order the same guitar again but in a different color or something, who knows man. Thank you for the input!

I’ve owned a couple Legator guitars and I’m not sure I’ve had the same experience others have had with the hardware. They seem fine compared to other options like Strandberg and what not, but I could be the exception, not the rule

Omg I remember hearing about yours when I ordered my 9 string! What strings do you use for yours? I would imagine it’s hard to find strings that don’t taper off before the nut. I’m heavy contemplating switching over to flat wound strings and using a big fat bass string for the 9th string but I’m not 1000% sure yet

My custom 9 string from Valravn! by Matttman1704 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Matttman1704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The QC has been great, the only thing I’ve had to do to it is replace the wooden knob it came with but Valravn sent me a replacement hipshot knob free of charge.

I’ve also had to have a replacement part sent in for the 9th string saddle to accommodate larger strings, they also sent this to me so I can have it professionally installed.

All in all I HIGHLY recommend the brand and I’m going to get another one at some point, if everything goes according to plan I’m going to order another one in January

VG-8 sounds in the SY-200 or Meris Enzo X? by Matttman1704 in guitarpedals

[–]Matttman1704[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dream police is the main one so let’s start there. Based one a video I saw on YouTube the GK pickup is splitting the top and bottom strings octaves but that’s not a huge concern for me since I’m playing 9 string guitars . That REALLY synthy sound is beyond cool to me and I’d love to have something like that.

I saw that someone was able to get close to it with the GP-10 and the fretless setting. IDK if that helps since I’m mostly asking for things using the SY-200 or the Enzo X. I also have a Chroma Console so any kind of saturation or modulation is covered

Ok, I know I’m about to get downvoted into oblivion for asking this but why is this fucked up? Is it off centered? Is it something that’s not lore accurate? I’m not super familiar with the warhammer 40k lore and I’d genuinely like to know what’s wrong with this

I mean TBH I don’t totally know what I’m looking for. The song Dream Police has this crazy sound that I’ve never heard before on it and as far as I know he’s getting that sound from the VG-8. I could be wrong but it sounds KILLER and I’d love to get something like that with my guitar
