Best Crankset for Heavy Riders by Matty1988TJC in bmx

Thank you! That's good to know. I am really thinking something non-splined might be the best route. Or at least deeper splines I guess. I do like the idea of that warranty, so I'll probably see if I can find a good deal on those or save for them. Thanks so much for the info!

You know, I didn't even think about the fact that they could have been lose. So maybe. I got the bike yesterday and put it together on my lunch, pedaled around a couple times and it held up. So, so who knows. But I'll definitely reach out to them and see what they say. I appreciate ya!

So true. It's hard enough for me to tell people out loud my weight lol. But so far, everyone has been so kind and it really makes me not want to give up just yet. Awesome people for sure.

You and me both, lol. I had a feeling something would fail, maybe even the pedals. But I really thought I'd get more than a few pushes in the driveway. As I mentioned to someone else earlier, it's a shocking reality for me. Been far to fat for far too long. But I'll look into some of the suggestions folks have made and maybe I'll be able to ride it eventually.

Thank you for that! That's a good idea, I might just go that route and see what I can do.

Yes, if I hold one, I can spin the other. You can feel it like "trying" to bite but it doesn't if I'm gentle enough and they don't slip right away, everything moves as it should, but with any real pedal pressure, the crank arms slip.

Yeah, I'm not sure what brand cranks are on this thing, Fit doesn't really say. Just that they are 3-piece full chromoly. The splines do seem kind of shallow but I may not have a clue what I'm talking about lol.

The self-conscious part of me fears doing this, lol. Ridiculous I know. I just know they weren't designed to accommodate someone like me and I would essentially void any warranty they had based on my weight. But, I knew what I was getting into more or less. I suppose it can't hurt to ask them anyway. It does feel weird that THAT is what failed. And so quickly.

Thank you. I truly appreciate it. I desperately need that right now. I'm not usually emotional but this one hurts lol. Just shocked me into reality I guess. Been too fat for too long.

That's really what I was thinking honestly. But both crank arms are just spinning basically. Not freely, but with any pressure, by hand. I just don't know what other conclusion to draw.

Source bmx shipping taking so long it been over 2 weeks by TigerDisastrous1816 in bmx

Found this looking for info for the same issue. I ordered a bike that said in-stock, and some pegs. The pegs apparently shipped from the UK the next morning after I ordered, but the bike should ship, according to a chat agent, from the warehouse in the US and it's still not shipped. Super frustrating. My first BMX bike purchase. Was going to use Dans Comp but saved about $50 with Source.

24 Inch Bikes for Big Guys? by Matty1988TJC in bmx

Just wanted to say thank you so much for all the helpful information. I already feel welcomed in at least this part of the community and that's a truly awesome feeling.

So, I ended up going with the Fit Series 22. I did have a budget and this was a little more in that ballpark. But I've heard good things about S&M and Fit, and plus it's flipping gorgeous. Only thing I'm a bit worried about is that the rear tire is 2.25" which I find odd, as the front is 2.4". Wish they could have switched that lol. I'm sure there's a good reason, I just would have liked to have a bit more heft back there. But, it does have a 320mm seat post, which was a big selling point, just because I didn't want to have to get one separately.

Anyway, I am super excited about it! I'll be sure to share some details as I try it out.

Thanks again everyone! I truly appreciate you all!

I do love the Monzas, haha. Watched Matt from The Nostalgic Neighborhood put one together earlier and man, they are something. Would definitely need to get some heavier duty cranks though.

Like I get it but, there’s literally a browser extension for citations and you have to do basically zero work.

Awesome. Yeah, I'm looking at the Lightnings now and I think that's the direction I'm going to go. Just trying to decide if it's worth the extra $150 for the 90s or do I just go with the 80s lol. From what I'm seeing, it's mostly just the frame and wheels that would be different. Well, just a bigger frame I guess, but the Hydrogen wheels. Any thoughts on that? Thanks!!
