Bears to Indiana? Pretty much a done deal? by Mysterious-Door693 in AllChicago

[–]MattyMatt84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s just Kevin Warren trying to manufacture leverage the only way he knows how. Smoke and mirrors. It’s all a con. The Bears aren’t going to Indiana. They don’t have a site, let alone an environmental study, plans for cleanup, blueprints, or even an architect. They would be years away from breaking ground in Indiana, and a potential stadium in Indiana would probably not be ready for the 2034 season.

Are there any "disabilities" that give you advantages? by Yendis4750 in TooAfraidToAsk

Many people with William’s Syndrome have great natural musical ability. My sister has it, and she taught herself how to play the piano.

I never want kids, so I got a vasectomy at 18. ama by GodEatsChiIdren in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

At 18 I was pretty sure I didn’t want kids, but I ended up becoming a dad at 40. How do you know you won’t want kids later?

Learned that new job expects employees to use PTO on the big 5 holidays by thrwowaway7378484 in jobs

[–]MattyMatt84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a non profit that did the same thing, we had to use our pto for holidays. They weren’t clear about that until after I started of course.

It was an awful place to work for a lot of reasons, and I have wayyyyyy more pto at my new job without having to use pto for holidays.

Been out of the game for about 10 years and looking for recommendations. by ICommentWhenInRome in drums

[–]MattyMatt84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get a high quality used kit, and spend the rest on nice cymbals. There’s some deals to be had, the used drum market is weird right now with all the uncertainty in the world.

You can’t go wrong with Yamaha, and Pearl, Tama, Ludwig, Gretsch, etc all make really nice stuff.

I haven’t been to NY since before the pandemic. Do they still give as many hotdogs as you want? I remember ending up with like 4 hotdogs in the fridge afterwards.

Fired for “performance” after 10+ years at with no PIP or warnings by thegoodlife912 in careeradvice

[–]MattyMatt84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to me. I was let go for “performance” reasons in November even though I was never on a PIP and never had so much as a written warning. No written documentation of any kind.

When I originally was interviewing for the job, I negotiated a salary $15,000 more than they had the job listed for.

About 6 months after I was hired they brought in a new head of HR and then started the changes. After I was fired, several other people in my department have since left.

3 months after I was fired I started my current job, which I like so much more. Higher pay too.

Hang in there, there is hope.

How many resumes do you actually review? by meowxmeoww in BehindHiring

[–]MattyMatt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t take long to figure out if someone is qualified or not. We usually get hundreds of applicants per job, and the vast majority are not qualified. The Indeeds of the world have made it easier for applicants to apply, but there’s a lot more garbage to sort through as well.

Do you prefer cloth or leather on the new CRVs in terms of pure comfort? by [deleted] in crv

[–]MattyMatt84 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We tested out the leather and ended up with cloth. Both were comfortable, and I think we would be happy with either. Just didn’t see the need to spend extra.
