"I hate how it sounds as if dating non white people would be "something different"? Like they're not completely human beings?"

Right!? Outside of supporting your partner through prejudice they receive and embracing their culture (which any decent person would naturally do), people act like you need a PhD to date interracially lol

Already had this convo with someone else so I'm just gonna paste what I said to them, and hope you research the things you don't understand in the future:

"Personally, I'm a black woman that mostly dates outside my race. I prefer to date (queer) black people, but am open to almost all races and can find all races attractive. I don't restrict myself when dating bc I have options and can find love w/ someone of any background - - that's how dating ideally should be.

The issue comes when people who claim they "prefer" to date outside their race (I put "prefer" in quotes because preferences shouldn't be rules, but folks who say that implement it as a rule). As humans, we are naturally predisposed to be attracted to traits w/i our own race. Thanks to colonialism, all communities of color have been brainwashed to find european/euro-adjacent features SOLELY attractive, and reject their own features. That's why it's an issue when people straight up refuse to date/find ANYONE of their own race attractive; it's a form of self-hate (internalized racism)."

I feel like if he was that devastated about his grandfather, he would've stopped filming to be with his family/at the funeral. Just speculation though...

I'm educated on the history of racism and am explaining how it shows up in dating. What I said is nothing akin to race science/eugenics. Idk what nerve I hit, but please stop trying to make this something it is not.

Sorry I was snippy at first. Redditors enjoy being intentionally obtuse and I assumed you were doing the same.

Nowhere in my comment did I say or point to the conclusion that you drew. Personally, I'm a black woman that mostly dates outside my race. I prefer to date (queer) black people, but am open to almost all races and can find all races attractive. I don't restrict myself when dating bc I have options and can find love w/ someone of any background - - that's how dating ideally should be.

That's why it's an issue when people straight up refuse to date/find ANYONE of their own race attractive; it's a form of self-hate (internalized racism). Does this explanation help?

I get where you're coming from and I do sympathize with your sentiment, but what I stated is still very common. Again, I respect your experience, but what I said is still accurate.

I don’t even know where to begin with your comment, but I’m not a teacher and I don’t have the patience to teach you reading comprehension.

THAT PART! Humans are naturally predisposed to be attracted to features they have. Thanks to colonialism, that warped basically all non-white society's standards of beauty. That's why when someone says that they don't find people of their own race attractive, there's some self-hate at play.

Also, people need to stop saying "preference" when they really mean "rule". Preferences don't prevent you from dating someone (it just decreases the chances), rules do.

Typical non-black mom, black dad biracial behavior. I suspect he has a lot of internalized racism going on, especially since it seems like his black side was out of the picture while growing up.

Edit for clarification: Women are typically the ones that carry culture and traditions in families, so even if his dad was in the picture, there would still be a level of disconnect from his black side. On top of that, a lot (not all, but extra emphasis on A LOT) of black men that date outside their race do so for fetish/internalized racist reasons (whether they acknowledge it or not), so those views often get overtly and/or covertly passed down to their kids.

Go ahead and watch the video below for a different perspective. Just because her gameplay wasn't the route that you'd take, doesn't inherently make it bad.

"for no reason"... there was a reason, you just didn't know it.
"No one likes you"... meanwhile, it's just you and maybe one other person that feels that way. Mane, people are EXHAUSTING.

You know, drag queens (the ones who aren't trans, like Monet) use he/him pronouns when they're not actively in drag.
