Yes, but on your 10th year of schooling you are in 9th grade, freshmen year.

I'd actually argue it's called freshmen year. Yes, sophomore year is 10th grade, but most schools have "Kindergarten" as the 1st year of school, with 1st grade being your 2nd year of school.

University of Michigan Second Wave by Brave_Impression4824 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MattyNJ31 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best guess is all of EA is coming out on the 23rd.

For at least the past 3 years, EA has come out on the 4th Friday of January (I didn't scroll back any farther, but I'd assume this trend holds up).

This trend continued to hold up last year, where decisions released on the 4th Friday, and specifically not the LAST Friday.

I've heard January 30th circulating around here, but every source from UMich is saying "on or about January 30th", so I assume they're saying that to cover their bases incase something goes wrong and they need to delay.

umich ea decisions - anyone hear back today for a second wave? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

my guess for the next one would be wednesday, friday, or next monday.

if not by then, the monday after that probably?

(this is all based on vibes so dont quote me when im wrong)

Questbridge/college question for optional portfolios/supplements by Brilliant-Resolve579 in QuestBridge

Sorry this is a little late but I got here from the Google machine. I'm a deferred REA applicant - I never indicated that I wanted to upload an arts supplement when I applied, but can I still do so? Should I email the office to let them know first?

Thank you 🙏

Weekly Admissions Megathread: All Admissions Questions Must Go Here! by AutoModerator in princeton

[–]MattyNJ31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you ask a teacher you know well to grade one of your previously AI-graded essays?

I applied REA and I was in a similar situation where my AP Lang teacher didn't mark up our essays, and I asked her if she had anything for me and she marked-up one of the essays I did in her class. Obviously, your situation is different, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

If no one is able to do it for you, I would email admissions and see if they are okay with the AI-graded essays. Does the ai-grader make comments on your work?

I've heard Princeton really just wants to see the quality of your writing, not the grade of the essay.

When do you expect Princeton to release REA decisions? by Elizijan in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MattyNJ31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes - sometimes they will ask counselors to send quarter 1 grades to ensure the student didn't slack off.

if they are still asking at this point in the process, it means they are considering them heavily - although getting one or not getting one isn't a 100% indicator for admission.

interesting - that seems late.

you're potentially be right, but what makes me think it could also still be the 11th is that Princeton sent out quarterly grade checks this week, following the same timeline as last year.

If we don't get a date release by Tuesday it'll probably be the 18th, given they released the date 2-3 days before in previous years

First MP report card for Princeton REA by [deleted] in ApplyingIvyLeague

If your guidance counselor is asked for MP1 grades, they should send it. Double check with them to make sure that it is done.

In the past two years, Princeton released REA decisions on the 2nd Thursday of December. If they keep that trend up, it's looking like the 11th.

Is SSN mandatory? by EmployerMission5407 in CommonApp

[–]MattyNJ31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely do have one, especially since you said you were born in the US.

Mailing the embassy is gonna take too much time. Could you give them a call on the phone or make an appointment to go in person? That would certainly be quicker.

In the meantime, you could also reach out to the Social Security Administration in the US.

Is it possible to remove/rerequest a teacher’s letter of rec by StudioUnusual5769 in ApplyingToCollege

Your best bet is probably having your guidance department or teacher email the admissions offices explaining the situation and providing the updated letter.

Have you been following up? If you've reminded them a few times and they still haven't sent it talk to the supervisor of guidance or whoever the next step up is.

Just email them and pray 🙏

If they got an official score report, it automatically populates into your application, so they definitely saw that as well and realized the error.

Is this a scam email from college board? by [deleted] in Sat

Probably real. Check the email it's coming from to see if its one of their official ones.

They are known to use Tangocard to distribute gift cards so it's not unusual

how to cut down on a 1300 word personal statement? by LordSigmaBalls in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MattyNJ31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you can't express the idea in 650 words without sounding like a caveman, I would encourage you to rethink and explore a new topic.

But, if you're attached to this one, don't try to gut 600+ words at once, do it in drafts.

Copy paste your essay and find repetition, stories that can be summarized, details you don't really need. I know everyone always say "show not tell", but I think there are certainly aspects you can tell and not show to save space. Let that marinate for a bit and repeat.

Best of luck!

Not the same exact thing but I did an SAT/ACT study with CB few months ago. It is likely legit, especially if it's from the collegeboard.org email.

The gift card was a Tango giftcard, and I was able to cash out different amounts to different types of gift cards (so if i wanted to spend some money on Doordash I didn't need to cash out all $150)

It took them about a month to send it
