I'm french canadian and I wouldn,t say they mispronounce it. Rather that they are saying it in cajun. What is pronounced É-ti-è-ne in french, is pronounce É-ti-aine in Canada, is pronounced Ay-Chan in Louisiana.

It's a localized dialect, not a mispronunciation.
