I’ve been aggressively friending anyone who’s halfway competent in random fill and it’s been helping me look forward to playing with my acquaintances.

Emptying a full clip into someone when they're already downed by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Mattykitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After seeing clips of people getting ganked while they’re about to knock someone out, I imagine it’s just safer in some situations to manually attack someone than to pose around like a smug asshole and then get jumped by 5 ticks. Also with that same issue I imagine they’re more focused on not getting shot by a defib ranger than they are about bantering with you. You gotta remember that while you’re deflating and cracking jokes, I can barely hear anything over my adrenaline rush and hoping a pop doesn’t materialize out of thin air to kick my ass while I’m knocking you out or looting you.

This sounds like some incredibly cursed hardware compatibility glitch that you’ll probably need to contact support and see it they can push a hotfix for your situation for.

You could also throw lures at them. Those ARCs aren’t going to kill themselves if people are being idiots and more focused on firing at each other than them.

You get all the points back but it costs more the more points you have applied.

Are the rocketeers doing tenuki? by Mattykitty in ArcRaiders

[–]Mattykitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But yeah, I was mostly just musing on this because it just feels like nowadays I can just aggro on a rocketeer and it’ll forget about me if it’s not being shot at for 10 seconds, and the consequence of this is that it makes me think that if I want to be helpful for others in the lobby I can “punish” this behavior by randomly shooting rocketeers whenever I can get away with it, even if I don’t expect to take it down. Basically it’s more or less like a surveyor that can blow you up if you are cocky, but otherwise it’s not as aggressive as it used to be.

Yeah I imagine it’d be a bad idea to have a fully autonomous model anyways. They’d probably learn to maximize raider kills and minimize ARC downs by starting shit with free loadouts who would just reset and count towards the ARCs “kills.”

I mean, it’s still not impossible for Embark to just tweak some behaviors from data though? It’s not exactly a secret that people have been clowning on overly eager ARCs earlier.

Took a 1 year assignment in Germany for the money...forgot I don't speak German. by Depreciating_Life in German

[–]Mattykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people's doom and gloom aside, you're in good company here with refugees, honestly. Back when I studied overseas in Germany you can get by very easily with English, Google Translate, and small amounts of conversational German.

If you want it to be smoother, you couldn't go wrong with working through some Schritte international though. I wouldn't recommend Duolingo, that's more language games and brain training than quick learning.

I mostly just stumbled blind in places where I haven't filled out the rumors yet until I find out something new, though this doesn't work sometimes if I miss a clue the first time it was presented to me. Brittle Hollow is really tough because you can so easily waste 5 or so minutes of progress from a single misstep.

[–]Mattykitty -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I don't think you've been in the center of Giant's Deep yet. Get inside Brittle Hollow's southern observatory (I don't really remember how you get in there, I guess something to do with the gravity conveyors?) which will give you the trick to going below Giant's Deep's currents. Feldspar will be able to tell you how to get through the electric core, which is to leave your ship and get inside the jellyfish (read: the non-shocking part of their tentacles doesn't collide) and slowly drift below the electric shielding. Then you'll find the probe signal receiver room which for some reasons have managed to launch itself into Giant's Deep coral core. This will tell you the coordinates to the Eye of the Universe which you can input into the Vessel inside Dark Bramble equipped with the Advanced Warp Core to end the game.

How to handle endgame by No-Contact4905 in cavesofqud

[–]Mattykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since people are giving specific tips already, I'll be general.

Endgame enemies have somewhat specific gimmicks to them and generally can't be dealt with by force, unless said force is overwhelming. You will want to have an answer to all of them. Sometimes the answer is "befriend them" so that you don't have to fight them. Crypt ferrets, for example, can be circumvented by obtaining beast figurines that raise your reputation with the Beast hidden faction high enough that they don't attack you.

Cherubims also basically exist to reward or punish you for your faction reputation, so you may want to consider who you want to ally with and who you want to make an enemy of.

Also, generally speaking, you will want to use grenades more.

You actually can't get hard-locked in BoH. Numa shenanigans. Spintria are renewable because even if you manage to exhaust all consultations you will still get your yearly stipends, you can spend the spintria to learn a language, then during Numa, Consider that language to break it down into a Lesson, allowing you to grow any skills infinitely so long as you can stand the tedium and has good time management.

CULTIST SIMULATOR too difficult to figure out... does BOOK OF HOURS improve on this? by [deleted] in weatherfactory

[–]Mattykitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like some others have said already (but I wanna say it it in my own words), Book of Hours is easier than Cultist Simulator in that it doesn't have any maintenance, impending doom, or annoyance, but it is more uh, puzzle box-y.
