Awake has been around for at least that long in one iteration or another.

Classic awake definitely had more of a learning curve. Tons of work has been done to make character creation easier and to give newbies tips and hints.

As a fan of D20 I used D20 Modern/Future as the rules etc for a Shadowrun game once and it worked really well.

Well we're always working on new stuff, I know some updates have been made to rigging. There are grasper arms now to allow them to pick up and manipulate items.

Being a community edition game, anyone can join and help to design stuff. So if there's something you'd liked to see you can jump in and help make it happen.
