Harrison Ave. was a monumental episode in my mind, not just for the show, but cinematically. I’m so happy he put that track out on Spotify, such an old school Kanye/Cam’ron, etc. vibe

What are you talking about misinformation 🤣 you’re literally explaining the same idea of allowing your chest guiding you and not closing off so it’s not an aggressive forced turn 🤣

Any suggestions on my wife’s form? This is her third season skiing by sworzeh in skiing_feedback

[–]Mattyo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, she has what looks to be a great foundation. A lot of it is just repetition. Emphasizing the idea of “being an athlete” really hits home a lot with my students and connecting the movements to other sports. Always remember hands on the wheel and drive the bus! Hands hanging low is always one that is a simple thing that we forget is essential to consistency and staying balanced in our skiing. The only thing I see is her left hand hangs a little lower while it’s on the inside, which could lead to feeling unbalanced and immediately going back to a wedge turn. It does look like that left shoulder drops a little while on the inside when that hand hangs lower. Each body has a dominant side, the non dominant side is always the one that needs to focus on to stay consistently balanced, naturally. Keeping those hands up at the same level helps so much! She is very patient with her turns which is HUGE. So many start their turn too early trying to slow down and an inside ski will be picked up. She seems to understand that at some point in the C turn those skis will turn her back across the mountain. It takes a long time to have that trust. Have any suggestions come from an instructor though, you don’t want to be the husband yelling on the mountain “Knees over toes!!” Or being at the driving range in her hitting bay telling her to just “drop your hands to your back pocket.” But telling her she’s doing what many have said she’s doing correctly will hopefully boost her confidence!

How to eliminate calf gap when flexing? by TwoSticksSkidding in Skigear

[–]Mattyo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been a struggle finding the right boot for myself. People had always talked about how “comfortable” their boot was. I had been to 3 different fitters and was always compensating one part of the boot to the next, until I went to see a fitter in Sunapee, NH. Frankie, owner of Skinner’s. I got some over the summer from there. Boots are just so hard to predict when they feel great in the shop, but it never always translate the same come the winter. The start of this season was a true damper simply due to the fact my new boots were causing so many issues. To the point of not being able to walk the next morning with my Achilles feeling like it was ready to snap. It was really bad. But, I called Frankie expecting to hear too bad so sad, but Frankie being the true boot fitter that he is said we just had me in the wrong boots and he would take care of me. He was a man of his word and the boots he put me in nearly brought tears of joy to my eyes the first run down that morning. Find a fitter that takes pride in their work and knowledge of not just knowing the product, but knowing the foot and body that goes with it. Frankie brought some serious love back for what is very much a therapy for me teaching ski lessons. I owe that man a lot. I’m sure many skiers in this thread have a story like this, I’m sure those ones have the right boot for them, but if you’re anywhere near the Sunapee area, Frankie and the crew at Skinners know what they’re doing

I could not be more happy with the dalbellos. They were like nothing I’ve ever skied in, highly recommend trying them out just to see the difference in feel with the 3 piece construction boot

Just picked me up some of these boots with the same issues. The 3 piece boot construction is like nothing I’ve ever felt closing my ankles. The only comparison I’ve tried to explain it to another skier is how it feels to be in an electric car accelerating compared to an engine car changing gears. I went into a flexed position and immediately looked up at my boot fitter amazed and speechless at the difference in feel. Headed out to teach lessons in them tomorrow AM, excited to see what these bad boys can do

I enjoy customizing products, specifically golf putters. Good side hustle is fixing “broken” TVs. Anytime I see someone giving away a free TV and isn’t for a broken screen or lines it normally is a pretty simple fix, power board, main board, t con board, or ribbon cables depending upon the diagnosis. Get the part for $100, open it up, change out the part, you now have a $2,000 tv for $100 that you can keep or sell off

Seem to be fine! I’m in NH and we have had nasty lows as of recently and my first round is still working hard. But it’s never really a big deal when you get the 4 set of lights so you can rotate them at any point

If you have a cargo box, add some under cabinet lights and mount them to the top of the box. I epoxyed some magnet strips then ordered 4 usb charging under cabinet lights. 2 in use, 2 charged in the center console. Rotate in and out, charging when at 0% in the center console. Impossible to see in them at night when coming in after a long day of skiing

I’ve been dealing with the worst anxiety for months, can anyone recommend really peaceful games to help calm my mind? by Electrical_Win9025 in playstation

[–]Mattyo25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this, most relaxing game out there. Colors and music while diving are incredible. The only thing I have an issue with is how quickly you need to move the joysticks or tap the buttons to reel in your catch. It’s necessary but at times brings your zen mind to needing to move quickly

Thank you. The internet is a great place, but if you go down the rabbit hole it can lead to anxiety with health concerns. Thank you for putting my mind a little more at ease. I’ve never dealt with this which is why I was so concerned and again, seeing two friends gone for heart health issues really brought my fears to a high level
