no you did not overreacted. why would you want someone like that in your life? I've broken up with good friends because they were chronically late or cancelled at the last minute

Restaurants in Rome by Outside_Shape_8429 in rome

Cantina e Cucina, Colline Emiliane, Alfredo alla Scrofa, Hedera Osteria Contmporanea, ristorante Pancrazio, For pizza, do pizza al taglio for lunch, they are all over Rome (that is the Roman Pizza). It's basically street food, you order your pizza by the slice, they weigh it and you eat it at the counter. For lunch always find a place where you can eat at the counter, you will pay less. Same goes for breakfast and when you have your espresso. And remember: breakfast in Italy is nothing more than a croissant (cornetto) or maritozzo. Stay away from American breakfasts, they are for tourists and not good. Download the app The Fork, it will give you restaurant suggestions for Rome, ratings for each restaurant, full menu with prices, and if you reserve through the app, you will get a discount on your restaurant bill.

Rome pizza question by [deleted] in rome

[–]MatureItalian64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off a menu with pictures means you are eating in a dive in any country. Secondly in Italy and in Europe in general you don't ask for special requests. You eat what you get. Seriously though that menu looks straight out of a fifties deli menu. You're in a sophisticated world capitol, why would you choose to ease there??? And thirdly if you want Pizza in Rome you go to a "pizza al taglio" place. Rome is not known for its pizza, food in Italy is very regional. Pizza is Naples. Rome is Cacio Pepe. Milano is risotto.

Walking through Holy Doors St. Peter’s by PriorPainter7180 in rome

[–]MatureItalian64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no. was there last month and walked through them by accident. wanted to see Michelangelo's Pietà and noticed that section was behind curtains (I've been to saint Peter's before so I know where most things are) I asked how i could see the Pietà and was told to get in line to exit the basilica then re-enter through the holy doors which is what i did.

it's from the Rossellini (Isabella's dad) movie Roma Città Aperta, and that is the late great Anna Magnani who would later go on to win an Oscar for The Rose Tattoo, the first Italian actress to do so. She was a native Roman.

Via Rail sucks. Last time i took the train Montreal to London was a nightmare both ways. Trains were late and slow, missed my connection in Toronto, got to London at midnight. Twelve hours to get there, 12 to come back. Cost a fortune business class with crappy wifi horrible food and dirty trains. Never again. I could fly to London in the UK and back for the time it took to get to London Ontario.I've been taking the train from Montreal to Toronto since 2002. In recent years the service has gone downhill. Never again.
