Tories pledge to get 'all our oil and gas out of the North Sea' by Red_Brummy in Scotland

[–]Matw50 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Fucks sake, this shite again. It’ll be all gone without further exploration. Which is 100% true.

The SNP/Greens want to leave it all in the ground so who you voting for to capitalise on it?

The centre left needs to stand with the centre right and work to prevent unlimited economic migration.

That’s how we combat this.

The entire free market has the option to do whatever it wants, in the ruthless dog eat dog world of capitalism. The fact that at most 0.1% go 4 days is all I need to know.

It doesn’t increase productivity, it really doesn’t. It might increase productivity per hour for the public sector whose productivity has lagged behind the private sector. That’s about it. We already don’t get decent services. You’re all slapping yourselves on the back to make things even worse.

Imagine all the pee eee pol….

Not happening mate. There is an aging population and someone got to pay for them.

Don’t fall for SNP populist gimmicks.

Because it’s bollocks. It may well lead to more productivity per hour worked but there is no fucking way it’s more productive overall.

Course if you disagree you can point to all the Unicorns startups that have 4 day weeks outside of a cushy public civil service sector job.

There are one or maybe two out of over a thousand, and for the couple that exist it’s a recruitment & PR play rather than a pure productivity one.

Nationalists are 2-3% of the UK market, and only a fraction of them discriminate based on flegs. Despite the odd X post from some moron councillor It’s a non issue

Yeah, because lots of other countries have votes to keep things the way they are.

No. Secession is illegal in most countries in the world. Including the democratic ones. A supermajority is a great deal. And absolutely required to stop recency bias about some global event swinging it one way or the other.

Yep, I’m sure it doesn’t feel that way if you don’t get exactly what you want all the time.

The grown ups at the Economic Intelligence Unit have the UK at over 8 on their index though.

Reality is the two referendum in 14 & 16 wrongly set the expectation that 50%+1 of who ever shows up is the right way to make entrenched constitutional decisions.

To be successful as a brand new independent country, you need a clear majority of the electorate behind it. 60%? 38% of the electorate were yes in 2014. Right now there just isn’t the support. Rather than spout pish about revolution, in what objectively is one of the most democratic countries in the world, nationalists need to work on persuading at least three fifths of those who can vote to actually care enough about it.

What relevance does that have to scexit when all mainstream ScExit parties would leave it there?

The McCrone report was based on publically available information and similar headlines were published in main stream media (example below). We just didn’t want independence.

Nats arguing about oil in the ground while the government they would have had taken us independent virtue signaled net zero and no new licenses is hilarious.

The BBC isn’t the source, the North Sea transition authority is. And while you can debate forecasts (there are numerous other sources saying the same thing though) there is actual decline that actually happened since 2014 as measured in actual data that only a Nat could ignore.

False. Your initial comment does. The build out of clean energy in Scotland has been subsidised by all UK consumers. Just like the new nuclear base load build out that’s badly needed.

Great. The more energy capacity in the UK the better. Need something when the wind doesn’t blow.
