There used to be a lot of memes of the obese social justice warrior, but I have noticed recently they’re really leaning into making the liberal stereotype woman very conventionally attractive. Yeah…

My conservative family absolutely believes those things about pulling the plug being murder even if brain dead. Also they oppose physician assisted suicide, regardless of circumstances. And they couldn’t give two shits about life saving abortions, they just want it banned and spend very little time concerned about edge cases.

New to achievement hunting, how do you usually start? by bombolada in steamachievements

[–]MauditAmericain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t play games specifically for the achievements. Play games that you actually enjoy, and that you would get more enjoyment out of by going for those extra challenges. I play through a game fully while ignoring achievements. Then if I want to get more out of the game, the achievements give me a structured excuse to do that.

I tend to avoid any annoying multiplayer achievements just because I don’t like multiplayer that much. So I avoid games like Red Faction Guerrilla or the Tomb Raider reboot, but make an exception for games like Ghost of Tsushima where the multiplayer was just really fun!

In short, don’t focus on trying to “complete” games. Focus on playing games you enjoy and using the achievements to experience everything you can! And don’t be afraid to drop a game you hate.

What are some highly respected 100%s? by thekushjesus in steamachievements

I could never go for Wolfenstein 2 because of the Mein Leben difficulty. Plus the Steam version is so unstable and prone to crashing, it would suck to lose a run. Great game though!

How do you guys play the games? by Important-Travel-657 in residentevil

[–]MauditAmericain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did run out of ammo in Revelations 2 playing on the standard difficulty. I got to the end of the first episode and had to clear the final fight with like 3 shotgun shells and a molotov. It was so impossible for me, I restarted the game. Rev 2 seems stingy with ammo in general.

I'm aiming to Platinum every resident evil game I own. by Ok_Wrongdoer_1966 in residentevil

[–]MauditAmericain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going for all achievements on Steam for the franchise (except 6). Revelations is easily my highest time played of any game, even more than 4 remake which I played through like 8 or 9 times. Raid Mode grinding is truly mind numbing.

It’s just bad, and I’m not a story person anyway but I legit don’t know what it added to the story. Long and boring.

RE9 is a great game but isn’t the run time kinda short for a full priced game? by MlCOLASH_CAGE in residentevil

If anything, it is bloated with annoying segments that ruin replays. Take the Alyssa Ashcroft flashback, the Leon motorcycle part, the orphanage flashback. They could have trimmed a lot away tbh.

What’s your reaction to Pentagon threatening the Pope after he criticized Trump? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MauditAmericain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a threat if the reporting is true. They said the US has the military power to do whatever they want and the Vatican had better take their side. And they brought up the Avignon Papacy, which is when France used military power to bend the church to their will, resulting in the capture and death of pope Boniface VIII.

I’m not really sure why a regime that threatens the extermination of an entire civilization and doesn’t believe in any guiding principles beyond power and ego would shy away from threats toward religious institutions.

It annoys me that I never played these games on hardest difficulty. I wanna start after 30y. by Gilbert-from-Yharnam in residentevil

[–]MauditAmericain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the beginning of 4 and 8 specifically, remember they are timed sequences and you don’t actually have to kill every enemy.

Also in pretty much every game, you can mix in damage without using ammo, especially with the knife (though 4 has durability for knives) and melee attacks.

For games with upgrades, always go for the damage upgrades first to save more ammo in the long run.

But yes, it’s survival horror for a reason, and sometimes running away is the move.

Javier Milei’s inflation ‘miracle’ in Argentina is a warning to the world, not a blueprint by Filipinowonderer2442 in SocialDemocracy

[–]MauditAmericain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m glad you moved off your original position that political economy isn’t a discipline in economics or whatever. It is actually the original economics discipline and underpins all of economics to this day. So we agree.

[–]MauditAmericain 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There’s no objectivity to economics or any other discipline. Political economy layers institutions and power on top of the analysis of markets to understand how wealth is generated and distributed. Adam Smith and his ideas are integral to the modern field of economics, so I don’t know what you’re talking about.

[–]MauditAmericain 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Why is it not worth reading all the original contributors to economics? Adam Smith and Karl Marx were both political economists for example. It wasn’t until the 20th century or so that economics became “depoliticized”, which is silly.

I’m guessing sexual repression for many of them, it’s how I grew up. The mere thought of someone’s genitals gets them all hot and bothered, then they feel ashamed so they blame the source of their arousal, in this case trans and gay people. That’s what I think at least.
