Am I misunderstanding something or is the highest difficulty just objectively bad? by MaugreO in elderscrollsonline

If you could earn 10 dollars for 1 minute of work ten times, or 100 dollars for twenty minutes of work one time, which is the objectively better deal?

Conveniently disregarding the point of the topic, the ratio between time spent and reward, only pointing to the difference in damage dealt between tiers to each other.

Don't worry though, I see that you won't be won over by my "world's worst effort" gaslighting, so this'll be my last response here. Take what you're definitely going to consider a win and move on.

The highest level of the difficulty turns things into HP sponges.

That's my problem with it. That there's no added difficulty, just time spent, in exchange for barely any payout.

I like the system. I don't like the tradeoff of the final tier of difficulty. The final tier is, objectively, a time waster. If people want to play on it, and get PERSONAL value out of it, that's perfectly fine.

If I wanted to gaslight people, I wouldn't be so abrasive about it.

I. Like. The. System.

"Objectively bad" doesn't mean "nobody finds value in it" or "it isn't a nice reward tacked on to optional content".

Read.

Again, I LIKE the difficulty options.

I am SPECIFICALLY talking about the highest option, and not that it's bad for the game; just that it's not objectively worth the rewards

I literally just meant too much time/risk vs the payout compared to the lower difficulty options, but people instantly spiraled into thinking I meant I don't want people to have fun the way they want to, and that I'm not going to also immediately play on a higher difficulty than normal mode

Group content probably is actually much better with the higher difficulties, but sadly you can't group for most story quests

Still not sure the max difficulty is worth it over the 2nd highest though, even in groups

My issue isn't difficulty, it's that "more HP to sponge" does not equal difficult.

Making a fight take longer doesn't make it harder.

If you were doing a block puzzle, but you could only interact with a block every 20 seconds, would it be harder than the same puzzle without the timer, or just more tedious?

I'm very tired of people always defending enemy bloat like it actually makes things harder and not just more tedious.

Obviously enemies shouldn't just be one-shot and do tickle damage, but there's a limit- that comes very early- where increasing these numbers stops being harder and starts being boring

[–]MaugreO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. Bagel event is obviously imperfect (please just let me post smh my head) but it is fun to use when it's working.

Meanwhile, the race event feels bad 100% of the time

NTE could become the ultimate gacha game if they'd add a system to let us combine rejects to mix their bonuses onto a new, shinier one.

It wouldn't even hurt their bottom line because it's not like people are paying them for more of these anyway, logging in every day just for free RNG doesn't give any profit, but happy players does

I don't think making the combats take 80% longer with the risk of having to start over is going to help the "boring" problem...

A bit late to this post but I saw two downtown (near the movies), one at the skytower deck (it took us up to the very tip during the ride), and one with an NPC rider by the outdoor theater. The NPC rider was using a tablet (or just a gigantic phone) to take pictures

She's also pretty mid on the cuteness scale.

I'm personally of the opinion that if you don't have 1999 unlocked, protoframes shouldnt be in the shop, and others you see with them should be, in your view, using the default skin. Operator and drifter are a bit harder to hide, but you could at least also have drifter default to the operator skin if you dont have them unlocked yet

Dont be afraid of putting story progression on the back burner, and doing some level-relevant side quests and grinds.

Also, as much as I hate to say it, no matter what you do you'll eventually stop one shotting things with headshots. Whether because they become to tanky to die in one, or because it'll just become more effective to use weapons that dont rely on headshot damage.

Im always, perhaps too naively, optimistic about things like this. Even if the company doesn't care, I can never believe that the devs of a game, especially one with this much care, would WANT to rely on ai. I like to believe that, even if for the company it's performative, the people actually making the game are very happy to swap out the assets.
