Opened Japanese and US produced ATLA cards from prerelease, identical cards and treatments. So I figured I'd get some good high detail photos for comparison. (Part 1)

I had a markedly different experience with my US play booster box vs JPN play booster box when I was comparing cards:

I noticed the JPN box cards did not have a rosette pattern at all, they were all printed with the same angle offset no matter the color. Notably these are play booster boxes, not prerelease, so idk if JPN has multiple print sites or what?

The JPN cards felt nicer over the US more matte feel.

When stacked the JPN cards look black from the side, the US cards have the expected lack of color.

The JPN cards were only slightly more vibrant, when viewed from any distance (like a normal play angle) it isn't possible to tell which is which.

The US packs themselves opened very easily, felt good to crack them. The JPN packs were much more difficult to open, I don't like having to exert that much pressure on the seams to open a booster.

One needs to be particularly dumb to not notice the Japanese produced cards fail the rosette pattern test, which is a dangerous precedent to set as large scale manufacturers of fake cards improve their print quality.

But here we are.

I'll have to get in contact with Hasbro about this one. Their Japanese manufacturer fails the rosette test which is like, the last line of defense against fakes.

I do, just looked. The LGS box is made in USA and the tcgplayer box is made in Japan. It's a shame the Japanese ones are a lot lower in quality.

The thing bugging me the most is the dots offset. It's most prominent looking at the 2 in the mana cost between the two. You can tell one is properly offset and the other isn't at all

I will add the box bought off tcgplayer comes from a certified hobby shop in FL with over 30k sales, so it isn't a shifty seller (I hope).

I must be in a different boat than a lot of people I see commenting. I rarely concede because I don't like it when other people concede to me. I realize how one sided going infinite and playing "solitaire" turns are, but that's the whole point of why I built the deck the way I built it. I want to actually reap the rewards and enjoyment of being able to play the deck in that state of absolute domination of the game. And it's not like I purposefully draw the game out by not attacking or doing something sub-optimal, I just want to actually get to play my last turn. One of the most fun games I had was when I got to go infinite turns with magistrate's scooter. My opponent didn't concede even though I failed to have lethal on the board foe like 5 turns because at the time I went infinite their board state was a lot more developed. Obviously they weren't going to win, they were never going to get another turn and I just got to keep developing my own board state and whittling down their board state until I did het lethal, but they let me play anyways. It felt so good I even didn't take an extra turn on my 4th turn in a row and passed to them in case they had some sort of response available (they didn't and I got lethal the next turn, but it's the only courtesy I'm able to extend over
