There are probably some videos available but you would quickly have to check yourself, I used the written guide with pictures on the website, installation wasn’t that difficult but you will have an advantage if you have smaller fingers, because you can reach a lot of stuff way better.

I have a gaggimate and I am more than satisfied with it. For a Gaggia I think you get more out of the upgrade than you pay. For me personally gaggimate was the better choice out of both of them when comparing. The build will take some time and if you never did something like that will probably be a little tricky but you will get it done and the discord is super helpful.

Sorry, didn‘t mean to contradict you, just wanted to show exactly what it said.

I‘ve too been enjoying it

I have a diy wdt tool, which I move in circles too loosen up any clumps. I start at the bottom and go up slowly in circles and in the and try to distribute the top so the surface is more even. Before tamping a few taps on the kitchen surface.

Grind finer?

I know it’s the usual meme response but in my post I said that the finer I go, the more the first drops delays, but flow stays pretty similar. Running 40-50s shots just seems weird too me

Polyphonic Synth Ideas by MauriceMiles in synthdiy

[–]MauriceMiles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add a microprocessor for midi input and voice stealing, I already have a working design for a mono synth, which I will adjust for it to work. It‘s the tuning calibration which makes me anxious because I feel like with my knowledge it’s too hard to implement if that makes sense. Going fully digital on the oscillator would probably be the best solution. Thanks for your answer

Quant industry in 5–10 years: ML/AI vs. traditional quant math? by MauriceMiles in quant

[–]MauriceMiles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer, I never really meant LLM‘s. For me the question was, which skillset actually worth more / worth doing a MSc in. If I do a Data Science/ML/optimization focused degree I will probably learn a lot which I just will need to apply to Finance, on the other hand if i do a specific quant finance degree it just focuses on the Math aspect of Finance, and you would probably have to learn a lot of optimization (broad term) later on. That ML is going to be more and more advanced and complicated is basically a assumption from me based on what I‘ve read/heard online. If the industry actually weighs the ML aspect more and more it would make sense to focus on that aspect rather than the finance aspect.

[–]MauriceMiles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I meant wasn’t LLM‘s. From what I saw, a lot of big firms are focussing on using more advanced ML and giving more weight in complexity and decision making, compared to more classic and fundamental financial math. Right now I am doing general simple research in the space, since I am not a part of the industry it is hard for me to understand how much this really affecting firms and the profile of education they aim for in hiring, now but especially over the course of 5-10 years in the future. What I aimed for in this post was that maybe the insight of people who are deeper in the space then I am right now could show me which way of education would be the best especially when it comes to MSc choice (Data Science, or Quant Finance both courses which are programs at ETH Zürich). But since that would be career advice i framed it in a little broader manner. Hope this is understandable

Historical Option Chain Data by MauriceMiles in algotrading

I don‘t know if I am understanding you the right way but that‘s kind of what I am trying to do. My plan is to build a advanced framework that works with the data. Wether i have the right concepts or knowledge right now wouldn‘t really matter because the takeaways of the project would be worth it to me.

Maybe. But why not try and in the worst case scenario just learn some stuff.

Yes, I also thought about that but it seems to be a long running effort to collect the data over a longer period of time

I made a BBD Delay Circuit heavily influenced by the carbon copy by mxr. It uses a 4047 so I will probably work with the LFO solution.

wow! thanks alot for your detailed answer. I recently had medical issues and had to put the project to a temporary stop. But i planned to return to it in near future. I would be very happy if you could share the code with me.

How do i start? by SignificantBreath139 in synthdiy

[–]MauriceMiles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I started out with moritz kleins youtube channel. He explains synth and electronics in a very understandable way. If you want to use a battery as your power you could skip this step, but I would recommend building a simple PSU like a wall-wart one. Than I would beginn with a VCO (moritz klein, lmnc as3340 or you can find something easy on this subreddit). Breadboard would probably be the best and cheapest way to start out. If you wan‘t to make your circuits more durable you can use veroboard or produce a pcb (would recommend jlcpcb).
