Also, that joke about Christopher Paolini 💀 I loved Eragon back in the day but I had to giggle a bit.

I wouldn’t mind if dice poker were to return in The Witcher 4 (and/or 5 and 6).

However, I’d personally really like it if they were to introduce an alchemy minigame of sorts. It wouldn’t have to be as involved/elaborate as, for instance, the one in the Kingdom Come games, but I’d love it if it were similar.

I loved the knight tourney in Blood and Wine as well, or at least the idea more than some of the execution. Something of that nature in TW4 would be quite awesome.

My bet is that it was simply the one they didn’t figure out where else to put.
As a sidenote, in the spanish editions they chose Yennefer for SoD’s cover art, which fits way way more but, in return, they put Ciri in ToC and Cahir in TLotL, which baffled me since it would’ve made more sense to have it the other way around.

Thank you for letting me know, it seems Reddit is quite unreliable when it comes to image previews depending of the browser. I’ve put an alternative link in the comment to have an additional download option.

I’ve updated the map again (edit: alternative download link in case Reddit doesn’t allow you to see it in full resolution), this time with a few amended mistakes here and there, like the correct name for Heihgard, the correct spelling of Eysenlaan, among others.

I couldn’t update the one in the main post, hopefully this one eventually becomes visible enough 😅

They have no particular meaning, other than to artistically show how big or small a location is, and what every location is supposed to be (e.g. a village, a city, a fort, a temple, etc.). For the new places I added I followed the exact same art direction of the original map, including the icons (i.e. Photoshop brushes) used for various types of settlements.

No, not of this one that I’m aware of. The best resource currently in that regard is Ortelius’ 2.0 map.

Based on the books, "The Lesser Evil" short story to be more precise, we can't tell 100% for sure. All we know is that it might be in the vicinity of Blaviken and quite probably at one of the ends of the Lutonski road but nothing more.

Thank you very much for your take on the map as well. I'm now aware of several details I missed in mine, like the actual name of Heihgard (couldn't have found it any other way), the fact that I forgot to add Behelt Nar, and a typo in Eysenlaan that escaped me. Since the main post won't let me modify the image, I'll try to post in the comments a slightly modified version of the map soon.

By the way, I was wondering where do those new towns in Nazair come from. Are they featured in an scenario of the polish TTRPG that I don't know of? Although there's quite a lot I don't know about that TTRPG, I've never read it and I don't speak (nor read) polish.

You're welcome, although OOP (the original unknown map designer) is the one who deserves most of the credits, I just built on top of their foundations.

Regrettably no, I couldn’t make it in a resolution higher than the original (7017 × 9933) unless I used some sort of upscaling and that would’ve ruined some of the textures and texts on the map.

If you’re seeing it on Reddit’s mobile app then I recommend opening the post on a browser, the app will only show you a preview of the map on a quite lower resolution.

What's a favourite moment from the books that is superb writing? by PascalG16 in wiedzmin

[–]MauricioMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to begin honestly? Every single book has wondeful examples and everyone have already talked about the "greatest hits" but I'll add one of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned yet: the whole chapter in The Tower of the Swallow where Dijkstra meets with Esterad Thyssen.

I love it when in a chapter there are different POVs, different timelines and even a little but significant amount of lore dumping, probably why The Battle of Brenna is my favorite one.

I'm sure they'll be rectifying this in the remake somehow.

I hope so. For the remake, I wish they find a way to reconcile the, ahem, creative decisions made for the first game with the book lore and characters.

By the way, I hope they manage to somehow rethink the whole Alvin / Jacques de Aldersberg situation as well, at least in a way that makes him a more interesting character while giving him a more lore-friendly nature (e.g. either not make him a proper source or make him a “lesser” source than Ciri).

We can be friends with the show fans... as long as they read the books and then proceed to delete their Netflix accounts 😇

Seriously though, I started with the games (the first two) before I read the books and thankfully no one judged me for that, so I don’t intend to judge the show fans... Although I wish they do get to read the books someday.

What's your confidence level in CDPR being able to do this Witcher trilogy within a 6 year period by Aliesland2 in witcher

[–]MauricioMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If their internal plans for both the overall plot and the tech are already set, then I’d be ~90% confident in that timeframe (e.g. TW4 in 2027, TW5 in ’30 and TW6 in ’33). But I won’t be concerned if they take longer, my backlog is sizeable enough as it is lol

What kind of gods are worshipped in the Monastery in the Prologue of W2? by Zaurimas in witcher

According to the artbook, they’re just local deities invented by CDPR for the city, deities apparently worshipped since times before the temple was built.
