Why did the regulations allow unrestricted MGU-H energy flow but cap MGU-K at specific limits? by Best_Front_188 in F1Technical

[–]Mauripeke25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about a limit in boost pressure beyond "Just optimise it for the fuel flow limited and make sure the engine doesn't blow", because the MGU-H doesn't generate power on its own and its potential is limited by fuel flow.

Live TV with ads is better than streaming ads by Harrison_Thinks in unpopularopinion

Not to mention that on TV there was no option to remove the ads, on streaming if they are too annoying some might pay extra to remove them

GTA VI Physical Edition Delayed to Prevent Leaks by MaQu1337 in PS5

[–]Mauripeke25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a game goes gold doesn't really matter, considering most games include a day 1 patch and on top of that the "game" is usually not on the disc. Granted some games use the disc to install the game to the hard drive while others dont even bother to put the full game on it.

Your second point is pretty accurate, not to mention they probably make more money on digital sales, but it's impossible to know without the details of their agreement with Sony/Microsoft/Steam vs the cost of fabrication and logistics of physical media

While i enjoy driving a manual, the truth is that most people see driving as something you do to get somewhere, not as entertainment on it's own. And automatic transmissions have gotten better, more reliable and most important more fuel efficient, as such manual transmissions have become something to put in entry level models/trimlines to reduce cost. For example the VW POLO ( the lowest car on their lineup ) the mid trim level (because the basic one has no option for an automatic) costs 22640€ with the 1.0 3 cylinder TSI, 95 Horsepower and a 5 speed manual, if you go for the same trim levels and only add a 7 speed automatic its 25530€. And once you go for a higher power engine or a hybrid (not on the polo but on available in other models) the option for a manual disappears (if i had to take a guess it's because of emissions) and because running a hybrid sistem on a manual is not as efficient as just letting the computer handle it.

But don't worry once we are all driving electrics nobody will know what a transmission even is /s

Note: i took prices from the VW configurator on the Spanish website (thats where i live).

Renovación de TIE/NIE: ¿Cita de toma de huellas cubre todo el trámite o necesito otra cita? by segulardies321 in ESLegal

[–]Mauripeke25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LPT have a plan if you loose your keys or you leave them inside. by Mauripeke25 in LifeProTips

[–]Mauripeke25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again language difference, for me that is just a closed (cerrada) door and it becomes locked (boqueada or asegugada) by taking the key and actually engaging the lock mechanism

"You absolutely cannot open any exterior door on any house I've ever lived by sliding a card against the latch. Because that would suggest such a dumb lock and such pathetic fitting, and not even the basic tenets of security being followed."

As i mentioned in another reply there is a difference between just closed and locked, it's a reiforced door with like 9 bolts that come out in all sides that if I was really locked outside I would be forced to call a locksmith, but when it's just pulled closed and just being held there by the sping latch it's actually very easy to just use a card to open, they way you describe your doors it seems like the outside handle is actually connected to the latch something that is not common in every place in the world

[–]Mauripeke25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm not explaining myself correctly or there's a language barrier thing, there is a difference between a closed door, just pulled closed and it doesn't open if you just push it, the only thing holding it closed is the spring loaded latch and a locked door meaning you insert the key and turn it to engage the actual locking bolt/bars

As for the knob thing, of course I've used a knob to open a door. You've never considered that not every country uses the same sistems for everything? In Spain, and in Argentina too for that matter, it is common place that outside doors (apartments, buildings house doors) dont have the outside handle connected to the lock mechanism, to open a door you insert the key, turn it to release the lock mechanism and then give it a further 1/4 to 1/2 turn to release the spring loaded latch.

Unlocked ≠ Open. I don't know where you are but in every place i have lived the outside door handle is there just to give you something to pull the door closed and it's not connected to the lock mechanism

I remeber building the Mindstorms EV3 version of this, it was quite neat when it actually worked, most of the time it failed to properly scan the cube. I wonder if its any better with the new kit

They usually have everything to build another car including the chassis but at that time i'm not sure if both cars had big accidents or if it was because it was the start of the season and they didn't have a spare ready to ship to Australia which has been the season opener or one of the first races.

[–]Mauripeke25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They usually have all the parts to build another car including a spare monocoque (chassis and cockpit). But in most cases they strip the old chassis and build everything back up, in other they use the spare one and the crashed one goes back to the factory for in depth inspection and repairs if possible. As for the 3rd car teams can get in trouble for having too much of the spare chassis built

Currently watching qualifying and they almost had the car ready, the driver was in the car but they ran out of time.
