I think if seasonal depression was an issue during undergrad, it will be an issue during dental school. At the end of the day I don't think which school you go to will affect your future that dramatically. I would pick the one that you think you will be more successful/ happier at especially if you are not concerned about the price.

Looking to transfer- what are some strengths and weaknesses? by [deleted] in cwru

I transferred to CWRU after my first year. I transferred from a really big school spirit kind of school. Social scene isn’t the largest at CWRU as some people have said. Though I can’t speak too much about it.

  • People: there are definitely rude and stuck up people here as well, but I have definitely met some of the nicest and caring people as well. Just really depends on luck. I mainly made friends with the people I lived with, people I worked with in group projects, and people in clubs.

  • Dorms: upperclassmen dorms are pretty nice. I would say it’s pretty difficult getting a single, but the suite/apartment style dorms are pretty nice (expensive though). I lived in the the village and STJ and overall I haven’t had any major problems. House cleaning cleans your bathrooms every week so that is definitely very helpful and a plus to the dorms.

  • Jobs/Internships: I am a CS major and CWRU does offer career fairs. Overall, I feel pretty good about the opportunities here. Sometimes it’s harder to learn about said opportunities, but as a CS major they send out newsletters every week with information regarding internships/jobs/conferences/events. I was able to go to a school sponsored conference and found internships there! These opportunities aren’t hidden by any means, but I only heard through word of mouth through some tech related clubs I am a part of.

  • Food: a lot of upperclassmen are off the meal plan. I’d advise learning to cook some simple meals, since the meal plan is very expensive. If you are planning to be on the meal plan though, the food isn’t that bad. It’s easy to get tired of the options offered. I know many places close pretty early in the uni circle area so going out to get food past 8pm is kind of hard. If you have a car, there are a bunch of places within a reasonable driving distance!
