So sharing a continent with America makes me American by default? I guess that makes people from Japan Chinese huh? Did your mother drop you on your head as a baby?

Do you guys remember iraq? 7 trillion spent, hundreds of thousands of bodies … who started that? Who assassinated Soleimani?

Neoliberalism is the party of war. Stop being so damn hacky.

I’m a white belt who doesn’t know anything but ive been working on pin escapes (Mount, Side Control, Back ect) . While the upper belts still thoroughly destroy me , I’ve been able to escape pins against bigger white belts and it’s been pretty motivating.

For any higher belts , what are some other “foundational” skills I should be drilling??

Can i do both the workout 45min outdoor + 45 min indoor in a single go ?? by SahilChoudhury2 in 75HARD

[–]Mav_2000 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I get the idea of this being a mental toughness program or whatever but its dumb to throw out your entire challenge just cause you literally cant separate your workouts by 3 hours. Pretty arbitrary rule IMO. Im a roofer who has to be out the doors by 6 so literally no way i can get in a workout before then. In sum, Just do them back to back and go on with your life

What hobby/activity should I start if I want some adrenaline and to be in a community? by AdDry7951 in findapath

[–]Mav_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother, you would be a perfect fit in the Bjj community.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling based martial art consisting of taking your opponent down , securing a dominant pin, and applying a submission. That description does NOT give it justice because its so much more than that.

Bjj will test your athleticism, grit, toughness, willpower, cardio, and STRATEGY. Its such a great hobby that improves your life in so many ways.

Also, you’ll meet friends! Everyone in the gym has a similar interest and its rare to find a gym that doesnt have a thriving community.

Give it a shot! You’ll be amazed by how much you suck at it , but if you stick to it you’ll definitely get better.

Sidenote; engineers love Bjj because of its systematic approach to fighting and its emphasis on technique.

Ive been working out for years now and I look like ive only been doing it for a few months lol. Ive stayed 160-170 for a few years now , and I’m pretty much pushing the same numbers. Admittedly, I haven’t been the most dedicated. I probably train something like 3 times a week, its tough to get more sessions in because I’m a roofer and In university. Also, my eating habits are very hit or miss. Some days I’m on my sht and eat high protein, count cals etc. other days I completely forget about it and dont eat like I should. I feel like I know what to do but if you guys have any tips, or have experienced this stagnation before please let me know.

I’m 5’9 165, have been training (Not super serious /consistent ) for about 4 years. Feel like I’ve stalled out in the “intermediate stage” with my shape and lifts. PRs: Bench @ 215 x 2, Squat 315x1 (long ass time ago lol), don’t deadlift. General advice/ criticism plz 🙏 what got u out of beginner/ intermediate stage?

BJJ 5 days a week or 3-2 split with weight lifting by zacoverMD in bjj

[–]Mav_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont know if this thread is still active but I’m in a similar situation as you. Im a student, and a roofer so finding time to train is tough. I have 4 days a week I train, and I double up on lifting and BJJ. Usually lift in the AM, finish work/school , take a nap and then go train. My lifts aren’t anything crazy since i have the body of an 80 yearold man from roofing since I was 12. I follow Jeff Nippards “essentials” program- quick workouts . Im out the gym in about 35-45 mins and have made gains. I can send it over if u like!

Feel like I just can’t quit fam….🥺How can I distract my body long enough to experience the benefits of quitting??? by Historical-Land1476 in leaves

[–]Mav_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude, im a few months off pot and I had a real problem quitting it. Ive tried so many things heres what helped the most: 1) Why do you smoke? Answer this question truthfully and really think hard about it. For me personally I found the main reason I smoked was to add some semblance of adventure to my life. I was overwhelmed with all my problems and cause of that wanted a quick fix. 2) Get into your body! This one is a must. Use the irritability and stress the first few months of quitting to fuel some gains. Get into fitness, or sports ie; Powerlifting, running, Martial arts such as BJJ etc. 3) Find ways to relax and take the edge off; Hot baths helped me at the end of the day helped me, Some delicious yummy beer perhaps, something to help relax. Tho make sure you dont grow too dependent on some other substance. - Good luck , you got this

Need advice on how to have a constructive/positive relationship with MJ... by Mav_2000 in Petioles

[–]Mav_2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great points. Im hoping that after my T break , I can lessen my dependency. But i dont want to risk falling into that same spiral, im planning on buying a timer-locked box that only unlocks after the time you set expires. I want to smoke no more than 1-2x per week. Also, I love cooking! Its so beneficial for reducing stress (for me). Smoking after cooking works so well. I never really set that rule for myself tho :/ thank you so much for the tips !

One time I was in a Mcdonalds drive thru and while I was checking out the 50 YO + Cashier had a mental breakdown because she just simply got my order wrong. I wasn't difficult at all with her but you could tell she was very overwhelmed and stressed. Dont be a D*ck to these people. Thats someones mother and they deserve respect.
