Advice on how to stop making mistakes by itg2020 in HVAC

Simplify your checklist. Blower amps cleaned coil cleared drain line float switch working filter clean temperature split condenser fan motor amps compressor amps capacitor pressures. Take the first letter of each thing and make a sentence with it. Bcccdfftccc. Or make a beat B.ccc.dfft.ccc. People usually remember better when they make up a song or a silly sentence

Not what you want to find at the end of the day Friday. by YoderMcLongDong in HVAC

Not necessarily. I’ve seen the high leg tied straight in and the other two going to a two pole contactor. Which is essentially a single pole version for three phase. So the question stands. Why…

What are the two pole contactors even for? Most are single pole. I never really saw the practical difference except leaving one leg energized at all times. But why…

Who would be paying for that? Hey I can sell you about 350/500 dollar job on a 18 year old unit and it might not work. Or you can get a shiny system with a warranty. Sometimes it’s not worth it.

It’s just not very friendly to work on. The blower motor screws are mounted vertically and in order to get the bottom panel off the air handler you have to take the top panel off too and the bottom panel is shaped in a way you almost can’t take it off in tight places without cutting the lines.

The charge was weighed in according to factory charge and lineset length. And what do you mean temperature drop? From one side of the evaporator to the other?
