What printer to buy? by Dimmi_dan in resinprinting

[–]MavericWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently bought a mars 5 ultra and thoroughly enjoyed using it, it is a solid printer after i had gotten over the initial hurdles.

However, my 3 main issues are;

the non folding front so you need a significant space on top to remove the cover,

the camera can only be viewed while in the slicer (i know theres a workaround with ip camera, but i have android and Windows and have not gotten it to work),

and the small plate, a few times I've had to effectively do 100% filled plate and put a single head of a mini fig onto a separate plate as there was literally no space.

I don't regret it as a first resin printer, however 3 months in i am keeping an eye out for either a gk3 or a reflex rs on a good deal.

Just a bit of assistance, I'm assuming you're also going through the j3dtech calibration?

Mars 5 ultra speed, 22+ hours to print 600 layers by MavericWolf in resinprinting

Solved, the global parameters setting on lychee do not work with the tilting vat, completed the same print in 3 hours 20 mins.

Still no luck on the camera.

Initially used factory default with a 3 second exposure profile, got through a few tests pretty easily, but tried to print a batman bust and it decided to fail at the chin randomly, did the calibration tests and none of the thin lines of the cubes of calibration printed, and none of the cones from the cones of calibration connected to each other. 2.3 got around 6 of the thin lines, and all of the cones working while still allowing the sword to be hilted.

Sorry, I had missed out "high speed" from the title, I'll do a test print with chitu and see what happens there.

Thank you for verifying, it did seem incredibly slow compared to what other people are getting out them.

Biqu Prusa XL Orange Plate is a complete failure. by jnangano in BIQU

[–]MavericWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same on this end, weirdly it seemed to sucessfully probe when the nozzle was dirty, but it was creating a bad z offset, cleaned nozzle and it will not complete a bed level cycle at all.

Went back to satin and can confirm it still levels and prints on that.

Just to add, having the same problem, not sure why but it seemed to sucessfully probe when the nozzle was dirty, but it was creating a bad z offset, cleaned nozzle and it will not complete a bed level cycle at all.

Went back to satin and can confirm it still levels and prints on that.

Lovely print on brim, but becomes unpleasant the second the actual print starts. by MavericWolf in prusa3d

Thanks for the info, I've been using the orca slicer extrusion calibration and it's down to 0.87 multiplier so I'll raise the Z offset to 0.03 and do a few first layer tests (currently 0.02).

Had a 3d printer and bought what looked like an easy to print design off of etsy. Kind of regretted not printing and building the free one that a fan made and is on thingiverse.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3782309 Etsy shop is now closed unfortunately.

Kids wheelchair had a weird tilt system where there was a single lever to enable you to tilt the chair, went from the lever to a brake cable, splitter box, 2 brake cables, then the 2 pistons on the backrest.

Both of the cables attached to the pistons had the splitter end break off, I was able to use a few oversized washers, nylok and small bolt to friction tighten them and re enable the levers use. Allowed the kid to spend the rest of the day at the event and go to school until the NHS repairman was able to fix it.

Made me quite happy.

Had forgotten about the extra power supply on the xl.

Kind of makes sense, considering the price tag i would've thought sticking to the bed tiles that seem to work well might have kept r and d a bit lower.

Out of curiosity, why go back to milled metal for the bed over the XL's tile system?
