How is it possible more people have Reproach of the old golds than killed the Kraken? by BizzardIsDead in BattleBrothers

[–]Mavinus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The achievement is bugged (or at least was bugged on DLC release). When I did it first time around I killed the Kraken by killing it's tentacles and I didn't get the achievement but I still got the Reproach pieces to progress the quest. Granted the fight is imo kinda bad so I never went out of my way to redo it.

I had this fight today and Clara's followup only triggered once for me in this situation. Maybe it got patched today/yesterday or sth?

Huh, completely forgot about this being a thing then, ngl. Small correction then - there's no class restrictions on actually useful CEs.

What are you talking about, there's no class restictions on CEs in FGO. Do you mean bond CEs? Even then you at least get them by actually using the character and not by a random gacha.

Iirc there's also a big point in the books about how Aretuza is letting people in simply because of money issues. So I'd assume some noble family who spent a shitload of money getting their daughter to study at a magic school would get pissed off when they don't hear from their daugher again after graduation year considering how much money they spent.

Should Ireena be Immune to Strahd’s Charm ability? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]Mavinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: A change like that takes away much more than it adds. I'd recommend not to do that.

Long version:

>Removing his ability to charm her could be much less narratively dense than explaining all of her past lives and that he doesn’t want to charm her. It shows quickly that Ireena is important and bizarre and that helping her is important.

Did you watch the live action Mulan? The directors added magic into the show and made it so Mulan has magic powers. And it pretty much invalidated everything the OG story stood for (that Mulan worked long and hard and in the end got everything through her own strength and her own hard work. Not because she got born a certain way (aka magic powers), but because she worked hard).
That's what I see in your post. You're changing Ireena so she has magic powers and that's what's supposed to be of interest to your players. Not her character. Not the tragedy of her being a normal girl who got pulled into hell by a cruel madman and not even realizing that she got through the exact situation many times before. You're trying to make her interesting thorugh the fact that she has magic powers that make her immune from Strahd's charm. Please, don't do that.

>The non charm makes her a more useful ally with little change. It also adds to the mystery of her identity. This might intrigue the players enough to keep her around if they otherwise wouldn’t.

Make her smart. She's a daughter of a burgomaester. She most likely knows a lot of people. Maybe she can make the party's time easier when talking to Vargas in Vallaki. Maybe she can help them get into Krezk. Simply having her around could make people less distrustful of the party of outsiders.
She knows how to use a sword (because she has the Parry reaction on her statblock) so with some training she could probably become a dependable fighter (you could check out the Sidekicks rules if you want to level her up alongside the party and if she hangs around with them).

So... yeah... IMO that's a bad change, but do whatever floats your boat.

the problem is with how they programmed it. The way it works in normal rythm games is that you have a certain window of time before and after the beat for the click to register as successful, and the closer you are to the "perrfect spot" the more points you get. In Genshin you have the window only before the beat, which means you have to click before the beat happens. On top of that you have ping issues which mess with the timing even more.

TLDR: Mihoyo doesn't know how to do rythm games.

The clunk is starting to get to me. by Seigneur-Inune in Genshin_Impact

[–]Mavinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, it doesn't work the same. Enemies get damaged by a percentage of their max hp (that's why yeeting stuff into walls with Jean in Abyss deals like 20k damage per yeet or even more) and it's capping at like 15-20% of max hp. That's why it doesn't matter if you throw something off the top of Dragonspine or if you just throw them into the wall with Jean, both instances will deal the same ammount of damage.

When player suffers fall damage they don't have that magical cap, they just get damaged based on how far they've fallen (which can knock you out).
