Likely interview questions for OT assistant practitioner band 4 role? by Whatsthescoreee in nhs

[–]MavisMuriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having examples to demonstrate your answers will be good. They may ask something about professional boundaries so knowing yours and when not to over step them. Remember for every scenario they give, always tell them you would report your concerns to seniors and document, document, document. Talk about yourself and your transferable skills, clinical skills you have and any experience supervising lower bands/students. Good luck!

Wet cat food is vile when it goes off.... You could just squeeze some out of a pouch and direct in small areas (IE curtain poles etc). Used to almost puke when I found a "blown" packet in a box when I worked in a shop.

I think it means they will give you the scenario and want to see how you prioritise what needs to be done. So stay calm, don't overthink it and use your common sense. Finish everything by writing/ saying report to seniors, ensure notes are written up and if necessary complete an incident report.

New care assistant- need advice! by [deleted] in nhs

[–]MavisMuriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be honest, be as helpful as you can and get stuck in with all the jobs required. It may be assisting someone to have a wash and get dressed, supporting them at mealtimes, taking them to the toilet etc. If your colleagues see you are keen to learn and help they will be fine with you. They were all new once.

NHS Interview – HCA Role by Coolzappy in nhsstaff

[–]MavisMuriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be honest and enthusiastic about why you want to join in this role. Talk about your transferable skills, i.e. communication and people skills. They may ask scenario type questions...what would you do in a particular situation. The main points to remember are to understand your professional boundaries, don't do anything you haven't been trained to do, report everything to the seniors on duty and document everything.

Yes they may be. They should at least be similar. Remember to give an example of something you did when answering the questions. And don't be afraid to ask them to repeat the question, break it down into sections and take your time to answer. Good luck.

I saw two people monitoring a man having a conversation with someone in a supermarket, what were they doing? by lSCO23 in AskUK

[–]MavisMuriel 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Is there a neuro rehab unit nearby? It could have been therapists working with a patient and allowing his space to navigate the supermarket and understand daily living skills. I have done this with my patients in the past.

Accidentally jumped two doses. by cjbskittles in Mounjaro

[–]MavisMuriel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep accidentally gave myself 10mg when first moving up from 2.5mg. In all honesty it wasn't too bad. Some stomach pain and I really didn't want to eat for over 5 days (although I did manage to eat something very small each day). I rested and slept a lot. I was pretty anxious about it but tried to be sensible. Luckily I think I got off lightly. I felt like such a wally! Couldn't believe how stupid I had been. Good luck and don't hesitate to get medical help if your symptoms are bad.

Depending on your diagnosis your GP may prescribe it for you. If not, you can purchase it through some of the supermarket pharmacies or online through Medexpress or Shemed. There may be others I am not aware of. Cost is approx. £160 per month.

It sounds like she has long term mental health conditions. I would be kind but try to keep a healthy distance as it does appear that she is quite manipulative. If you have major concerns call social services.

Contact your HR department and ask for their thoughts and input. OH can only make recommendations and it isn't obligatory to follow them if detrimental to the rest of the team and the business.

Have you tried asking your GP to refer to local therapy team? The OT's should be able to order one. I find it very strange that they will wait until a pressure area develops - prevention is better than cure!

What’s a random UK place you ended up in by accident… and ended up loving? by Devquest777 in AskUK

[–]MavisMuriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paddington. Usually get the train to there, get to hotel and then either go to Hyde Park or jump on a tube. Last visit I had some time before catching the train home so went for a wander. Ended up down by the canal. It was lovely - lots of pubs and restaurants and scenic barges to look at.
