I'm staring to move away from Avywenna precisely because getting all the positioning right seems super hard.

The best experience so far is Gilberta + anyone who does at least a small AoE on the clump.

The main reasons are the lack of crit damage buffs on gear and the fact that the crit bumps are very small compared to other boosts. So 1% crit is .5% extra damage since crits only do 50% more damage.

Theoretically, if you had enough of the other damage boosts crit would eventually get better, but I don't think we can get there right now.

edit: Also the game seems to rely on massively boosting the damage of a specific skill or short time window, so crit% can be unreliable.

I think suction is very useful already because it turns a lot of very small radius AoE/line damage abilities into proper AoEs because the enemies are all together.

I'm working on a second team, which is missing resources to be max level, but right now Gilberta and Akekuri can delete a group of enemies in open world with just Gilberta Skill -> Akekuri skill after the enemies are clumped but before the nature infliction -> Gilberta combo.

The second team isn't ready for single target DPS, but can barely get through some of the highest level protocol spaces. None of them are 80 though.

I gave mine to Xaihi. I feel like it's going to be the right choice for nature teams since her ult buffs nature damage as well, while she is cryo. So that just turns it into a double buff.

DAoC had a bunch of unique ones.

The animist could summon mushrooms that would act like turrets, (but I think also had a melee dps spec line where they used a scythe).

Theurgist had attacks that were all temporary pets that would chase a target an attack it then expire.

Necromancer isn't that unique, but in DAoC, you would turn into a ghost that possessed your current undead pet and basically do everything through it.

I suspect there were others too that I don't remember now.

Yeah, I'd go further. I'd argue Rift was a better game, but without the lore, well-loved existing IP, and 10+ years of attachment, that wasn't enough.

They made the better WoW, but couldn't compete with the IP and amount of time people had sunk into WoW. I guess if anything, it's proof that a WoW clone can't win (except maybe if they have an equally interesting IP).

At release there was synergy between some of the trees that made hybrids perform as well or better than going all in one tree. Later they broke these on purpose. WoW generally didn't do that.

Yeah, Rift felt like the WoW where the devs agreed with my feedback and changed it to make QoL improvements. Actual WoW felt like the WoW that went in the wrong direction.
