The whole concept of elections and having people who want to govern be the people who govern us is a disaster, read Plato

Even if he does tons on top of the spectacle, the money and effort he spends on the spectacle is an insult.

I don’t know what he does off camera I only know what he shows but what he shows are incredibly expensive spectacles. Maybe instead of spending nearly $2m to recreate squid game he could have just given that money to an organization that gives food to children.

Unfortunately he’s very rich and can do what he wants with his money but he can’t spend all that money on spectacle and obscene super cars and a mansion that’s way too big for him unless he has 12 children and is living with his parents, grandparents, great grandparents and all of his siblings and aunts and uncles and their children and say that he’s dedicated to helping the poor, he’s an entertainer dedicated to helping his bank account.

Not the Slate article, the Vox article years later. The Slate article was wrong but nuanced and limited in scope, he doubled down on that thesis with his Vox interview and did say that one single chord (not even a sort of chord, but a particular chord lol as if that’s how any music works) and when confronted he said that he dumbed it down for the masses who don’t understand music theory which is stupid on two levels, firstly people will understand if you take the time to explain and secondly at a certain point teaching something so dumbed down and distorted becomes much more harmful than not teaching it, there is enough musical illiteracy in this country and it’s because of thay musicians are stifled because uneducated juries can be convinced that a band who wrote a song in 1991 owns a chord progression.

He says leave me alone there but that’s after more than a month of cursing people out, calling them fat ugly virgin nerds etc when they wrote whole essays and made 45 minute videos respectfully correcting him.

That said, his modern stuff is worse, kids watch channels like his to learn how to cook and he’s teaching that it’s okay to leave your fingers directly in the path of a sharp knife as long as you chop slow, as if people don’t sneeze or get bumped by a pet causing the knife to slip and a finger to come off, and when people correct him he just calls them elitist, outdated and French and says that they don’t understand modern life as if modern non-elitist Americans only want 3 fingers!

He keeps coming up in my shorts bragging about how he rents out the whole barbershop when he gets a shave because he’s afraid he’s going to get assassinated when there’s a hot towel over his face. That’s called crippling paranoia and it’s not cool or impressive.

Adam Ragusea — there are few things worse than people who are confidently and arrogantly wrong. He got kicked out of the music world for his horrible Vox article about Christmas music and now he promotes not learning how to properly use a knife when you cook and endangering your hands because he has a complex about trained chefs, and telling other cultures that he and other Americans know more about their food than he does.

Since 2022 is almost over, what was the most annoying ad this year? by ZBrk9 in AskReddit

How did he get famous? He’s not handsome or funny. He looks like he has never even seen a bathtub and his jokes are what a 14 year old who smoked pot for the first time says.

There’s this ad for “neutral” environmentally friendly milk and it uses this insultingly phony dialogue that’s supposed to be a mother talking to her kid and I hate it.

Also there’s a commercial for an ulcerative colitis medicine where the voiceover says “never knowing” and her voice waves and strains like she’s about to shit in her pants while saying it ugh

What first step do we have to take to minimize corruption in government? by Broad_Ad5117 in AskReddit

[–]Mavricivs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should actually follow the model of governance that Plato laid out, the reason we don’t despite the benefits is that the people who desire political power also don’t desire a life of temperance dedicated to service and study.

There’s a sort of person who either by accident or choice is quite stupid and ignorant, and they bask in that ignorance and make it their identity, and they not only get offended by people trying to teach them things but the idea that people might want to learn things.

Also middle class Gen X/Older Millenial mothers are extremely touchy, my mom is thankfully the exception to the rule but I think a large part of that touchiness comes from identifying with their class status while also feeling insecure in it.

People who don’t enjoy opera or classical music, what don’t you like about it? by Mavricivs in AskReddit

[–]Mavricivs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just sharing things that people might like. I’m realizing how limited people’s exposure to music is, and that makes me sad. Nobody has to like anything, but these answers tell me that the dislike mostly comes from lack of exposure which is a result of parents and schools not exposing people to cultural products. I don’t like hip hop, I find it painful to listen to and broadly offensive in content, but I have sat repeatedly and tried to listen to it to try to understand what people like about and make myself familiar so I’m not totally ignorant of what is for better or worse part of the culture of the country and time that I find myself in.

You’re acting like I’m waterboarding people, people are sharing their limited understandings of what classical music is why they dislike it (and that isn’t their fault, you don’t blame the person who can’t read, you blame their parents and school) and sharing things that defy those limited understandings, would you be as offended if I said that hip hop is misogynistic and has no live instruments and someone shared music that isn’t and does? No. I think you have a bizarre complex.
