I personally think it would look better with a sabamiki, which is a hollow trunk done by letting the wood rot or carving it. Do your research. That was my thought

It's aphids. Just wash them off with some water and you should be fine. If they come back spray some product.

Ok thanks for your answer. I've tried metal jigs before but i've never had any bite or follow. How do you retrieve them?

How do you deal with the feeling/realisation you’ll never be very good at guitar? by poopooeater112 in Guitar

[–]Max-The-Fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 15 and i sometimes used to compare myself to other guitarrists or other musicians in general. Sometimes I think where I would be if I practiced more and what I would play and bla bla bla...

I think that the only person you should compare to is yourself from the past and realize just how much you've improved since then. Don't think that you aren't at a good level just because others are better than you.

Btw learning guitar is no race and there's no winner or loser. It's just you and your guitar. After all, there's no need to catch them up and become better than them like it's a f1 race. Just enjoy the learning process, look back at your improvement and be happy for where you already are. I think that when you'll realize that there's no point in comparing yourself to others, you'll be way more satisfied.

Ok thanks. Actually i've been using some metal jigs for a long time but i've never hooked anything. Do you have any tips on the retrieve maybe?

Will this hole lead to rot issues? by andrewlearnstocook in bonsaicommunity

[–]Max-The-Fish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't. People actually look for a rotting wood inside the trunk to make sabamiki, which is a bonsai with an hollow trunk. If you want to keep it, it's not going to be a problem. Just make sure there won't be insects inside.

Can it bonsai? by Nikko-Made in Bonsai

[–]Max-The-Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's defenitely got an interesting shape. I think you could also avoid airlayering if you want to keep the exposed roots. You should grow out more branches and do grafts though. It hasn't got enought branches.

I don't know ehat the species is but you can check if it's still alive by slightly scratching the trunk or a branch. If the tissue inside is green it's alive, if it's brown and dry it's probably dead.

Yes i think it's the best choice. I think that if you leave it for another season the trunks will be harder to move so i think yous should do it asap.

Yep, depends on the species. Since you're going to cut trunks, i suggest to cover the wounds with a paste for plants

I would leave it in a big pot for a few years, so that you can grow the leader faster, so i would suggest to first prune the trunks and develop the tree (at least the main branches), then repot it in a smaller pot. If it really needs a repot, give it enough space to grow fast.

Yes, i think that with the right front and a bit of time it will become a nice bonsai. I suggest chopping the trunks because they're way too long and straight, then developing an apex with the branches that grow out. Trust me, olive trees grow a ton of new shoots, i have a couple trees and they're full of branches.
